A whole day had gone by since everything happened. I've been hiding in our bedroom since then. I can't seem to find the will to move out of bed, to speak, to do anything but sink into these warm sheets and let the darkness swallow me whole.
Rayna and Angelo came in to check up on me from time to time, coaxing, pleading, trying to draw me out but I just wouldn't budge. Not for them, not for anyone.
Ravić tried the hardest of all. He carried me from the bed once, his voice steady even as I resisted, but the bathroom was as far as I got. I only splashed water on my face, stared at the hollow stranger in the mirror before crawling back beneath the sheets.
He gave up then. With a weary sigh, he climbed in beside me, pulled me against his chest while I sobbed quietly again, until there was nothing left.
