Chapter 22 - Ability Failure? Or Limitation?

"Thank you for your support. Please, ladies and gentlemen, form a line and exit the gym." A beautiful female voice echoed from the loudspeaker.

People in the audience seats began to stand up and walk out of the gym door.

Ash watched the departing crowd but didn't follow. Instead, he stood in place, watching the crowd leave, lost in thought.

"Excuse me, the performance is over. Please leave the gym. We need to clean up. If you wish to challenge, please come back tomorrow?" A familiar female voice called from behind Ash.

Ash's thoughts were interrupted, and he turned to see a beautiful girl with pink hair politely looking at him.

Ash immediately recognized her as one of the three sisters from the performance.

"Oh, sorry, I was lost in thought, so I forgot." Ash apologized.

"It's okay, please leave first? We need to clean up." Lily smiled and said.

"I have a question." Ash suddenly looked up at Lily's eyes, his right eye turning purple.

"Hmm?" Lily blinked. Ash's ability seemed to have no effect on her.

"What's the question? Hey, why did your eye turn purple?" Lily looked at Ash's right eye in surprise.

Ash furrowed his brow, feeling that his ability hadn't disappeared and wasn't entirely ineffective against Lily. Ash's right eye couldn't control Lily, but Ash could sense that his right eye made Lily relax her guard.

'Strange.' Ash frowned, smiling. "My eye has been like this since I was little, sometimes it turns purple, but it goes back to normal soon. Don't believe me? Watch." Ash retracted his right eye's ability, and his eye turned black again.

"That's amazing." Lily exclaimed.

"It's getting late. I should go. Goodbye." Ash enthusiastically said goodbye.

"Okay, goodbye." Lily smiled back.

Ash turned to walk towards the gym door, and in that instant, his smiling face turned grim.

'Damn,' Ash cursed in his mind.

Ash exited the gym but didn't return to his lodging. Instead, he wandered around the gym, eventually entering a shop.

Ash pushed open the shop door and entered. The first thing he saw was a familiar figure.

"Fat kid." Ash spotted the guy he wanted to beat up, the Fat kid.

The Fat kid saw him too and turned to run.

"Hey, don't run." Ash grabbed the Fat kid's clothes, throwing him to the ground, and started beating him up.

After beating him to his satisfaction, Ash let go of him, who was now unrecognizable.

"Why were you running?" Ash grabbed the boy and asked.

"Bro, big brother, I'm sorry. I won't run, okay? You beat me up every time you see me. I don't want to get beat up again." The Fat kid cried, his face twisted in pain.

"You can't outrun me anyway." Ash raised an eyebrow.

"So, what do I do?" the kid asked.

"Simple. Next time you see me, protect your crotch with one hand and your head with the other, then crouch down. That's all." Ash said.

"Uh, but I'll still get beat up," the Fat kid said.

"What did you expect?" Ash raised an eyebrow.

"Hand it over."

"H-Hand what?" the Fat kid stammered.

"My Geodude, hand it over." Ash pretended to be fierce.

"B-But we traded for it." the Fat kid said nervously.

"Fine, I won't hassle you. No more talking, compensation for mental distress." Ash cracked his hands and held out his palm.

"I'll give it. I'll give it." The Fat kid was scared, reaching into his pocket and handing over all his money to Ash.

"Not bad." Ash happily took a thick wad of cash, at least five or six thousand.

"Oh, what's your name?" Ash asked again. He had beaten the kid up so much but didn't even know his name.

"Uh, everyone calls me Jack, or Fat Jack." The Fat kid was about to cry from fear.

"I, damn, that's creative." Ash's face twitched. This guy's name was too clever. I'm impressed.

"Okay, you can go." Ash didn't want to hassle him anymore and let go of Fat Jack. As soon as Fat Jack hit the ground, he ran away as fast as he could.

"That, he's fast," Ash was impressed again.
