Kyra's POV
I sat by the pool's edge, dangling my feet in the water. The summer heat melted away instantly.
Nathan sat down beside me, smiling. "Aren't you cold? I don't want you getting sick."
I pulled his suit jacket tighter around me. "We're werewolves, not that fragile. A little pool water won't hurt us."
Nathan was close enough that his calming mint scent surrounded me. The pool area was tucked away from the mansion, and we could only hear faint sounds from the party.
I turned to look at Nathan. His handsome face under the starlight made my heart skip a beat. Phoebe's words echoed in my mind, "Why not give each other another chance? My brother made Sophia leave five years ago."
This gentle, handsome man beside me was someone I'd loved since high school—my ex-mate, the father of my child.
"Nathan..." I whispered.
