Zixuan sat in the back seat, still fiddling with his fingers.
"Zixuan, you don't have to do this today," Shengli said softly.
"If I don't, I may never be able to," Zixuan said softly with a faint smile as he pushed the door open.
The hospital stood tall in front of him.
Shengli walked beside him as he took each step.
When they reached the reception desk, the nurse behind the counter looked up with a practiced smile.
"Do you have an appointment?" she asked.
Zixuan nodded. "Yes… Fu Zixuan. Ten o'clock termination." He said, though it took him a long time to gain the confidence to say "termination".
It felt weird. Someone like him, terminating.
The nurse nodded, not showing any emotion.
"Please fill out this consent form. The doctor will be with you shortly."
Zixuan took the clipboard from her. He and Shengli moved to the waiting room.
The faint sound of a crying baby echoed down the hallway, intensifying his guilty conscience.
