Chapter 164: Sea Sacrifice
"Ultrasonic Repellent Jutsu!"
Sasuke unleashed a disruptive jutsu at the sunken ship, increasing its power. The Umibōzu inside soon began to feel an extreme discomfort. While the damage wasn't severe, it was extremely annoying. Unable to bear it any longer, it finally escaped the shipwreck.
"Samehada: Chakra Devourer!"
Sasuke immediately pursued it, unleashing a rain of powerful attacks on the Umibōzu. As Samehada absorbed a large amount of its chakra, the Umibōzu's body began to shrink. Sensing the threat of death, the creature proactively pleaded for mercy, demonstrating its immense intelligence. No wonder it allowed merchant ships to pass if they offered sacrifices, even setting a minimum number based on the fleet's size.
"Let's first use the intermediate summoning scrolls, and then find an opportunity to use the advanced scrolls to renew and strengthen the blood pact."
Sasuke decided. After using a mid-level scroll to contract the Umibōzu, he returned to the shipwreck with it and took some of the most valuable jewels. The other countless antiques had to be temporarily stored there. His sealing scrolls were already filled with the valuable loot captured during his previous battles.
It was better to hide such wealth, as if the fleeing Mist Ninja had taken it. With his abundant harvest, Sasuke was about to return to the fleet when he discovered a commotion on the ship. Many of the crewmen, despite the ninjas' pressure, were demanding sacrifices; some were even kneeling on the deck to pray.
"Yes, why hadn't I thought of it?" Sasuke's eyes lit up. There was still a large amount of loot on board. It would be better to "sacrifice" some of the valuable loot and keep it for himself.
"Samehada, channel chakra into Umibōzu."
Instantly, a surge of chakra flowed into it, and the Umibōzu's body rapidly expanded, not only recovering its original size but multiplying it several times over. An Umibōzu of this size was no inferior to Gamabunta. After giving it some instructions, Sasuke returned to the ship.
"Roar!" The Umibōzu appeared on the sea's surface, looking impatient and angry.
"Oh no! The Undead Sea Monster is furious!" the sailors on the ship cried out in horror.
Sasuke feigned alarm and immediately ordered the Water Style Squad to unleash a combined jutsu. "Water Style: Water Chaos!"
Instantly, a gigantic wave of water rushed towards the Umibōzu. Boosted by the favorable sea conditions, this combined Water Style jutsu reached the terrifying power of an S-rank ninjutsu.
"Oh no! The Undead Sea Monster is completely immune to Water Style jutsu! It has grown much larger!" the men shouted, their panic increasing.
"Unleash the Wind Style jutsu!" Sasuke immediately ordered the Wind Style Squad. "Wind Style: Ten Thousand Blade Storm!" A swarm of wind blades swept across the sea, attacking the Undead Sea Monster.
"Great! The Undead Sea Monster has been shattered!" the crew cheered, feeling as if they had escaped death. Unfortunately, their joy was short-lived, as the fragmented body of the monster reassembled. The incredibly powerful combined Wind Style had done no harm. The Fire Style was also ineffective, as the monster simply merged with the sea to dodge.
"There's really no other option. It seems we can only offer sacrifices," Sasuke said, pretending to have used up all his tricks. He unsealed a scroll and threw high-quality ninja corpses into the sea. The sea monster calmed down and absorbed them all.
"Lord Sasuke," the ship's steward immediately reminded him, "we must also offer gold as a sacrifice. Otherwise, I'm afraid we won't be able to leave safely."
"Then what are you waiting for? Quickly offer all the gold, silver, and jewels from the warehouse of Ship No. 2!" Sasuke immediately ordered to continue the sacrifices. Everyone on the ship agreed. It was just a few coins. Life was more important.
