The sun was sinking low, painting the academy courtyard in shades of orange and gold. Most students were either heading toward the dormitories or spilling into the bustling main halls, but Tirel lingered by the stone steps, her crimson hair glinting in the light like fire itself.
When Jae passed by, she reached out, her fingers curling lightly around his wrist.
"Come with me," she said, her voice low, carrying a mischievous undertone.
Jae arched an eyebrow, his red eyes narrowing with suspicion, though curiosity sparked beneath the surface. Tirel rarely asked without some scheme already turning in her mind. "And where exactly are we going?" he asked, smirking faintly.
Tirel tilted her head, lips quirking. "You'll see. Trust me."
Jae gave a short chuckle, shaking his head as though amused at himself for entertaining her antics. Still, he followed as she tugged him along, weaving through the less-frequented corridors of the academy.
