At that moment, the group fell silent yet again.
Even Ancient Relic, the dude that can find the good in something shit, couldn't even write a proper text without flaming Xero.
As Xero's deskmate, Han Jue always knew Xero's way of creating awkward silence, but this? God, this is just insane…
Everyone had clearly been shocked by the wooden sword, they might even think that he fell into poverty!
…
At the end of the day, Ancient Relic is Ancient Relic. And so, after five good minutes of his jaw dropping and eyes fixated on the picture, he shook his head and pushed the thought aside. Looking at the virtual keyboard on his phone, he hastily typed out a reply. "Student Xero… You're being dead honest?"
Xero sent a simple text answering him, "Mhm."
"…"
Ancient Relic couldn't even type out a reply other than that!
As for the others, they had different perspectives on why he had that wooden sword as a main.
King Jie: I never imagined that Classmate Xero's situation would be so tough and tragic! No wonder he always acts low-key at school, I didn't know he was going through this! He needs more care!
Mr Birdie: As his deskmate, I always thought that his cold and aloof demeanor was just at will, but who would've known that under that demeanor, was a heartbroken man! I should give him more care and concern from now on!
Xinyan: I'm specifically gonna go on Tinder to find him a loving husband!
Dude, what the f**k?!
…
Misaki had some thoughts in her head on how to provide for Xero now, she thought that she could borrow some money from her father and buy him a pink fairy swor—
Xero: Enough!
…
Heavenly Wooden swords are especially known as God's chosen swords, but the sages that lived in secret in the second century dubbed it as a "wooden sword." They were popular back then, but overtime, the wood used to make them got lost, and today — There are literally no wood in the world that can even produce a replica, not to mention that it was cheap!
Ancient Relic knew that Xero had a rough childhood! Who the hell would do this to their son?!
Ancient Relic sighed as he looked at the picture — It's about damn time Student Xero receives a home visit!
Xero: "…"
…
It was eight o'clock in the morning at Wednesday on the third week of school.
Everyone gathered at the school gate on time, and waited for the bus that will take them to No. 89 Cultivation High's Academy.
Since their uniform pockets are basically bottomless, they traveled light. As everything they needed was inside their pockets.
As they entered, Xero found a seat at the fourth row in the left side and sat down.
As Han Jue and Zhen Jie entered, they saw Xero, and eyed each other with a smirk. Then, like f**king hoggers sat on either side of Xero.
"Goddammit." Xero thought.
After he shared his wooden sword on the WhatsApp Group yesterday, Zhen Jie and the others figured that they should now be caring for Xero.
This frightened him.
His low-key high school life wasn't going as he initially planned, and instead had inverted into something else entirely.
Xero must have offended fate itself.
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Xinyan, Lianhua and Misaki sitting together holding hands. He didn't need to even read Lianhua's mind, to know that the she probably shipped him with Han Jue!
The bus was actually fitting enough for at least sixty people, but at the back all six of the seats had been occupied. Ancient Relic sat by the bus driver, and by the look on the driver's face — he didn't really give two shits. Ancient Relic had a whole mall of snacks in his pocket, and was eating.
…
This was the first time that Xero was surrounded by such a tight knot of people, and as habit, he kept silent; listening to the discussions happening.
Because he usually doesn't use electronics that much, his only way of getting up to date with news was through reading minds — and this ensured that he was updated at all times.
Han Jue and Zhen Jie were absorbed in conversation.
Han Jue: "Apparently they found the tomb of ancient cultivators that were known in history. The First Immortals."
The First Immortals…
Xero knew that they had to be talking about Meng Hao and Qin Yu, the two "Almightys" of cultivation history.
Before the founding of the Yunzhou nation, they were basically the immortals of cultivation, having ancient scrolls and documents dating back centuries before the Qi Information Era, detailing their deeds and life — they were considered the fathers of cultivation. But now, they have gone down in history as one of the most powerful cultivators, going silent. They were actually a topic Ancient Relic frequently talked about. Furthermore, Meng Hao's assessment and Qin Yu's Cultivation Equation Theory were key topics in the class; and students hated and loved them for it.
There had always been rumors or theories that Old Meng and Old Qin never actually died. Shockingly, the ancient tombs they were buried in were actually fake, and the Qinghai Government hasn't found their corpses yet. What's compelling, is that those supposed tombs were a divine tactic of some sort, a vow Old Meng made.
But still there was skepticism. Although scholars are not convinced, they all agree that Old Meng and Old Qin did in fact exist, and during their journey to attain immortality — on their way on the heavenly steps, they got struck by Heavenly Lightning, that was the first ever record of that lighting in fact.
Zhen Jie nodded, "Yeah, the matter did divide some people." It was a big deal, so naturally he heard of it.
"Of course, man! Because there's some rumors that destroy our view on the cultivation paths!"
Han Jue said mysteriously, "According to experts that tried to find Meng Hao's tomb, they found it near Mount Lotus!"
"For real?"
Han Jue nodded, "Yeah, the tomb was full with traps, it was heavily guarded for some reason. But according to scientists, they found remnants of the Grand Soul Elixir on his corpse. You know what it is, right? According to saints, he used that to cure and create panaceas in a short time."
"Then why would it appear in his tomb?" Misaki was curious about their conversation.
"That's the weird part."
Han Jue threw a dismissive hand, "Obviously, when the Meng Family heard about this, they thought that the people may be tampering with the evidence, including the fans, but the Qin Family disagrees saying otherwise. It's a never ending circle."
"But if it really is just a fake tomb, what is there to argue about?" Xinyan was confused.
"Yeah, she's right on that, the tomb is fake is it not?" Lianhua said.
"You don't get it, do you?"
Han Jue shrugged, "At this point it's like arguing if thighs or feet are better. They've been arguing about this for centuries ever since the documents came out, but there's still no evidence or consensus right? It's the same with the Shen Family and Han Family Army debate. There clearly is not gonna be a conclusive result to the matter, but they're still blabbering on Twitter; trying to gain attention and traction from it, they don't want to lose out."
All: "…"
