Lein bolted forward, ignoring the hands, the touches, the smells around him…
Strangely enough, the space around him began to change again.
The fog thickened rapidly.
He was once more in a realm of darkness, shrouded in dense mist.
The demon was there too—after its failed attempt to drag Lein into the child's soul.
Barely had its recent words faded when Lein already lunged into attack.
He didn't even think to hesitate. He charged forward with such speed it seemed the child wouldn't have time to dodge. And indeed, he didn't—Lein touched his body… only to pass straight through it. The child's figure scattered into the mist, as if it had never possessed flesh at all.
«Damn… So it's not a real body…»
As if reading his thoughts, the demon said with a smile:
"So, you can't even harm us. Well, well… your bluff was far too obvious. But I can harm you…"
With those words, it dissolved into the fog and appeared behind Lein.
