Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Flexible Response

A moment ago, near the coast of Dressrosa, on the deck of a Marine warship

The wind rolled the waves, and the warship cut through them. The outline of the tropical kingdom of Dressrosa was gradually becoming clear. The distant coastline was dyed a blood-red in the afterglow of the setting sun, as if heralding an impending storm.

At the bow of the ship, Roy stood quietly, his white Justice cape fluttering in the wind. His gaze was cold as he stared at the kingdom ahead, his expression as steady as a mountain.

The sound of footsteps, and Gion slowly walked over, her pink military uniform flying in the sea breeze, her military boots making a series of crisp rhythms on the deck.

"Finished your report?" Roy's tone was calm, without turning his head.

Gion walked to his side and nodded lightly. "Yes, Headquarters has already replied." She paused, her expression a little complicated, a helpless curve on her lips. "Fleet Admiral Sengoku personally inquired and even convened Vice Admiral Tsuru and a few other high-ranking officers for a battle briefing... but—" she sighed. "After Vice Admiral Garp interjected, the tone started to go off track."

Roy raised an eyebrow. "I did ask the old man to help look after the kids before I left~" He turned to look at her. "What did the old man say this time?"

Gion cleared her throat with a feigned seriousness and switched to a boisterous voice, her imitation perfect. "Hey! Gion! If that kid can't win, just let me go over! I was just thinking of catching a dragon to study!!"

Roy: "..."

Gion couldn't help but laugh and continued, "As a result, Fleet Admiral Sengoku slammed the table on the spot and roared, 'Garp!! You shut up!! The New World front is tense, where do we have the spare manpower for you to go catch Kaido?!'"

"And then you guess what he replied?"

"'I can fight three of them by myself. I'll catch him and put him on display in your office!!'"

"Pfft!" Roy finally couldn't hold it in and covered his forehead, his tone helpless. "He really is Grandpa Garp. His way of thinking is as novel as ever."

Gion smiled and shook her head, her tone gradually becoming serious. "But in the end, it was Fleet Admiral Sengoku who made the final decision."

"The situation in the New World is complicated, and Headquarters cannot dispatch more forces. The order is for us to 'judge the situation and respond flexibly'."

Roy raised an eyebrow lightly. "'Respond flexibly'?"

"That's right," Gion nodded, adding lightly, "Anyway, with you here, even if Kaido really comes, if we can't win, it's easy for us to retreat..."

"And Vice Admiral Garp added at the end: 'If you can fight, fight. If you can't, come back and bring more people to fight again!'"

After a brief silence, a slight, sinister smile appeared on Roy's lips, a sharp light in his eyes. "Heh... doesn't that just mean 'do whatever you want'?"

Gion looked at him sideways and saw that his brow was already burning with an undeniable fighting spirit. She sighed lightly and rubbed her forehead. "What on earth is the Fleet Admiral thinking... letting this guy 'do whatever he wants,' isn't he afraid he'll uproot the entire Dressrosa?"

At this moment, Roy had already put away his smile and was once again staring at the port ahead, his tone low and powerful. "Give the order—"

"All hands to battle stations, prepare to land!!"

"Yes, sir!!" The Marine soldiers on the deck responded in unison, their morale high as they rushed to their battle stations.

Gion stood on the spot, looking at the fluttering white cape, her eyes deep. "Doflamingo..." she whispered to herself. "This time, you won't be able to run."

Dressrosa, Port

The sea breeze carried the smell of smoke. The warship's gangplank slammed onto the pier, kicking up a cloud of dust. With it came an air of killing intent, as if the shadow of death had arrived with the wind.

The white cape fluttered. Roy and Gion walked down side-by-side, their expressions cold, their steps firm. Behind them, a formation of elite Marine soldiers stood at the ready, their long spears and blades all pointing forward, as neat as a mountain.

And opposite them, the entire Donquixote Family was on high alert—the "snot man," Trebol, was half-bent over, slime dripping from him; the rock-like Pica was silent, his giant palm slightly clenched; Diamante, in his cape, held his sword, his mouth twitching; Señor Pink quietly bit his cigar, his expression blank; Lao G, Gladius, Buffalo, Jora... all were present, their faces tense, their killing intent leaking out, but they couldn't quite suppress the fear in their hearts.

At the very front, his pink feather coat flying, Doflamingo stood at the head of the crowd, a teasing smile on his face, his eyes behind his sunglasses as sinister as a venomous snake.

"Fufufufu..." His voice was low and hoarse, with its familiar arrogance. "A Rear Admiral of the Marines, suddenly visiting Dressrosa... what, are you here for a tour?"

Roy didn't speak, but just coldly swept his gaze over the opposing camp. "Everyone's here?" he sneered. "It seems you're really planning to fight to the death." His gaze was like lightning, sliding from Jora to Trebol, then to Pica and Diamante, and finally resting on Doflamingo. He said with a half-smile, "When did Dressrosa become yours? Aren't there two people missing?"

As he spoke, several people in the Donquixote Family broke into a cold sweat, their feet quietly taking half a step back.

"It's him... the man who easily killed Vergo on Minion Island and even hammered the Young Master's head..."

"That monster Rear Admiral actually came..."

The dead memory was suddenly revived, and everyone's nerves were instantly pulled tight.

Roy slowly withdrew his gaze, a cold smile on his lips as he looked at Doflamingo. "Little flamingo, stop pretending."

"The moment I set foot on this island, my Observation Haki sensed your stupid act of manipulating King Riku and burning the city to kill the people."

"Tell me, do you want to put on the handcuffs yourself—"

"Or do I have to pluck your feathers one by one and help you put them on?"

Roy's voice was as cold as frost, but his tone was as casual as a tease. But in that instant, the entire scene fell silent. The faces of the Donquixote Family members changed drastically. Gion held the hilt of her "Konpira," her eyes burning with anger. "Manipulating the king, slaughtering the people... the evidence is conclusive. You really did it, Doflamingo."

Doflamingo's smile froze. His face twitched, and he gritted his teeth in a low roar. "I am a Shichibukai recognized by the World Government!"

"What right do you have to question me?!"

Roy tilted his head slightly, his gaze as mocking as a blade. "A Shichibukai?" He slowly took a step forward. "Do you think that status allows you to treat a country as a toy?"

"This is not a life-saving charm that allows you to arbitrarily control the life and death of a country, little flamingo."

Doflamingo's pupils constricted slightly. He suddenly spread his five fingers, and the faint sound of strings cutting through the air could be heard. "ROY!! Don't think I'm really afraid of you!! The one standing behind me is—"

"Kaido, right?" Roy suddenly interrupted him, a playful curve on his face. He raised his hand and gently snapped his fingers.

"Snap!"

The next instant, space suddenly trembled.

"BOOM!!!"

Dust flew. A massive, mountain-like body slammed heavily in front of Doflamingo, creating a heaven-shaking roar.

"Ugh... cough, cough..." It was a beast covered in blood, its face swollen like a pig's, its fangs broken, its consciousness hazy.

—The King of Docking, Jack.

Doflamingo's face turned pale. His sunglasses fell off, his eyes shaking. "H-How is that possible?!"

"You-you actually even... Kaido's confidant..."

Roy looked down at him coldly, his tone calm but firm. "Now, do you have any other backers you want to bring out?"

The scene was dead silent. The Donquixote Family was as if in an ice cellar, their faces collectively pale. Doflamingo's fists were clenched, his nails digging into his palms, his back stiff, the very air seeming to freeze.

And Roy was already slowly walking towards him, his presence like a crushing mountain, stepping into their hearts step by step. Gion stood at the side of the military formation, her long sword not yet drawn, but she was already prepared to strike the first thunderbolt at any moment. The silence before the battle was like the last second before the doomsday bell.
