Chapter 18 - Paying Bonnie A Visit

After my mother left with her friends, I let out a loud sigh, a tremendous sense of relief pouring over me. I've successfully disguised the mark from her, but I'm anxious since she'll suspect me every time I put a scarf over my neck.

Because the mark was on the right side of my neck– letting my hair down was the greatest option for concealing it, but I'm not the sort that enjoys letting my hair down. When I'm at home, I usually wear my hair in a ponytail, but now I'll have to get used to having it fall out. I had no idea it would be so difficult to mate with my own step-sibling.

Sliding my fingers into my hair, I exhaled deeply once again before falling flat on the bed.

There was a sudden knock on the door, and I sat up, diverting my focus to the door. I gulped down the lump in my throat, well aware that Derek was behind the door.

"Come in," I muttered hesitantly, my face flushing from embarrassment. I'm always shy around him, yet, I crave being with him as well. My wolf adores him, and ever since he sealed our bond with his mark, she's made me crave his touch.

The door slowly opened, revealing Derek's gorgeous face. As I saw him take slow steps towards me, I stood up and smiled. His greenish stunning eyes pierced into mine, holding me in their grasp, and without thinking, I closed the gap between us before giving him a quick peck.

"How are you this morning?" He asked as he brought his fingers into my hair, giving it a gentle stroke. Seeing him every single day and having him by my side was enough to make me feel better.

"I'm doing fine." I replied, and he leaned nearer, sniffing and nibbling my neck. He backed away slightly, releasing me from his grip so he could see my face. He paused to scan my face, sensing that I was disturbed.

"What's bothering you, Isabel? Please tell me."

He muttered, his voice calming and lovely as red wine. I bit my lower lips before placing my hands on his broad chest, drawing lines on it with my fingers.

"Isabel," Derek called again, his voice tinged with concern, sending waves of warmth through me. When I averted my gaze from him, he cupped my cheek, encouraging me to look into his eyes.

"You are aware that I am your mate, Isabel. If there's anything bothering you, please let me know."

"Derek. I'm merely concerned that my mother will find out about the mark you left on my neck. I've been hiding it under this scarf, Derek. I'm concerned about how she'll react once she sees it. I don't want to tell her I've found my mate since she'll be very intrigued."

I stated my concerns to him, and he tucked my hair to one side of my neck, displaying the other side of my neck where the mark was.

"I am terrified, Derek. What if she sees it?"

"Whatever happens, Isabel. When your mother discovers the mark, we will tell her the entire truth. We just need to be strong for the time being. I believe she will be able to understand. At the very least, we did not disrupt their wedding arrangements. We are merely mates, yet we are pleased and happy to see them together.

"They should be glad for us when they find out we're mates because we didn't disturb their wedding plans. We didn't conduct any serious crimes; it was only the Moon goddess who brought us together, okay. I understand that society may not approve of our mate bond because of our relationships as step-siblings, but I want you to know that I will always be at your side. We can do this, Isabel. I know we can."

Derek mumbled as he slipped his fingers through my hair. I tilted slightly as he held my chin, his stare fixed on the mark on the side of my neck.

"I'm glad it's on the side. I can still hide it with my hair. I don't enjoy wearing my hair down, but I'll do it if it helps hide the mark."

"Great," Derek exclaimed, putting his hands around my waist. When his hands slipped around my buttocks, I let out a faint moan, and he smiled before taking my lips in his.

I grasped his jaw and stood on my toes, trying desperately to keep up with the speed of our kisses.

His hands grasped my butt and I caressed his necks and broad shoulder, enjoying the feel of his lips on mine. He bit my lips gently and I thrusted my tongue into his mouth, exploring every corner in it. His hands massaged my buttocks and I moaned, pushing him against the wall, our lips smacking as we exchanged saliva in our mouths.

I'm not sure what this drive was, but I knew it was my wolf pushing me to do this. She was always ready and excited whenever Derek touched me.

As he took his lips away from mine, I heard a slight smack. He shifted his fingers from my buttocks to my back, gazing into my blue eyes.

"I love you, Derek. I really do love you." I confessed and he flashed me a warm smile, blushing as a result of my comment.

"I love you more than you love me, Isabel. I love you with all of my heart, soul and body. I'm glad to be your mate," Derek responded and I leaned my head on his wide chest, feeling the warmth of our body as it came in contact.

He drew me into his arms, his lips caressing my forehead. My phone rang, shattering the silence, and I reached for my pocket before taking it out to see who was calling.

"Bonnie," I muttered, widening my eyes as I realized it was Bonnie. I swiped my phone's screen with my finger and answered the call right away.

"Aren't you coming?" Bonnie inquired over the line, and I looked up at Derek, whose gaze was fixed on the mirror. He was undoubtedly admiring himself; he knows how attractive he is.

"Yes, Bonnie, I'm coming. I will be there in a few minutes. I'm still packing some of my things."

"Oh. Cool. I am currently watching a great movie on Netflix. I can't wait for you to join me.

"I certainly will. "What is the movie's title?"

"No. I'm not going to tell you until you get your ass over here; the suspense should be enough to draw you in in a second." Bonnie's quip made me laugh lightly.

"Is Derek coming along?" She asked and this time around, my laughter faded completely when Derek turned to face me as if knowing his name was mentioned.

"Come on.. why are you so quiet? Have you two been up to something?" Bonnie asked and I widened my eyes and bit my lips, feeling a little embarrassed.

"I take it. You aren't coming because of Derek?"

"I am. I'm definitely coming and I'll also be coming with…wait let me ask him."

I paused, clutching the phone to my chest before turning to face Derek. "Derek, would you like to follow me to Bonnie's house? I usually go to her place on weekends, and I was wondering if you would be interested in joining me."

"I Will. I definitely will," Derek responded, smiling as he brushed his long hair with a small brown comb.

I nodded and returned the phone to my ear before saying, "He's also coming. Is your mother around?"

"No. She isn't around. I'm stuck with my weird neighbors, which is why I need your presence here." Bonnie mumbled, and I gawked, knowing how chaotic it must have been with them all around her.

Tony and Hayley are annoying neighbors of Bonnie. They can be cool at times, but Hayley and I frequently get into fights because she dislikes me for unknown reasons. She was frequently jealous while I was still in a relationship with Mason. Now that I'm no longer with Mason, I wonder how she'll react when she sees me with Derek. What if she tries to woo Derek, as she regularly does with cute guys? Can I ever let them know that Derek and I are going to be step siblings? What if she finds out that we're mates as well? It won't be so good since she's very mouthy and very bad at keeping secrets.

"Aren't we going anymore?" Derek asked, snatching me out of my reverie.
