Kayden's POV
The scent of her heat still clung to the back seat, thick and cloying like forbidden fruit left out too long. Rhydian slammed the condo door behind us as soon as we stepped inside, his movements sharp with agitation.
"She stays here," he said. "Until it passes. We don't want asshole swooning over her."
Tavian said nothing. He just disappeared inside, his jaw rigid, his fingers twitching like he was one second away from losing control.
I watched Dahlia.
Her pupils were dilated, skin flushed, lips parted like she couldn't get enough air. She swayed on her feet, teeth digging into her bottom lip as she tried to act unaffected.
But I could hear her heartbeat. Rapid. Wild. Needy.
"You shouldn't have come to school," Rhydian said to her and she retorted, her voice faint.
"I had a test i couldnt miss."
He didnt say anything before brushing past me, heading into his room and slamming the door.
I stayed behind.
