Chapter 51: Manager Drex's Arrival
Before finally finishing their business in the Slyvaris Kingdom today, Kael led his group to buy some horses, which in the end he decided to only buy three.
He naturally could have bought more horses, but after canvassing around different stables close to the southern gate, he found out that two groups had also visited their places to inquire about their cheapest horses and buy them.
It was exactly like what he had expected. Lawrence's group and Jayem's group also bought horses, just as they agreed, so his decision to buy only three horses was correct, since they didn't really have to get so many horses with their current situation.
Kael shared his horse with Ten Hearts, Ten Spades shared his with Ten Diamonds, and Ten Clubs rode alone on the last horse.
The group greeted Elandor before leaving the southern gate of the Slyvaris Kingdom and returning to camp.
Along the way to their camp, Kael suddenly decided to take a detour from their usual path of crossing over Manager Drex's camp. The reason is that, unlike the usual, where the camp was always empty and devoid of people, this time, there were a lot of people around packing a few unknown items inside multiple bags.
Kael couldn't quite see from their distance what the items being packed in the bag were, no matter how much he squinted his eyes to see. Even Ten Hearts, the owl beastman, could only describe the items as stacks of blue paper as they were trailing off a considerable distance away so that they wouldn't raise any negative concern or start a possible conflict with the other group.
The description Ten Hearts gave wasn't enough to determine the exact items, but finding out they were only packing papers, Kael decided not to involve himself with their business and continued on their way back to their camp.
Upon reaching camp, Kael greeted Lawrence and Jayem, who were already waiting for him as he expected.
Kael quickly signalled his men to bring forth the items they bought along with the three horses.
Lawrence and Jayem also did the same.
Not long after, stacks upon stacks of materials and supplies surround the trio.
"Let's proceed to check everything we've bought," Kael took the initiative to begin taking account of everything.
After checking and taking into account every supply and material all three of them bought, which they concluded could last them up to a month or so, Kael then ordered a few of the slaves to start constructing a bigger storage room, possibly a small warehouse, behind the small storage room, because there's no way they could fit everything they bought inside their small storage room.
In the process, the slaves had no choice but to take down the eastern wall and expand it outward to accommodate the new storage space.
Destroying the wall wasn't a problem since it was merely made out of wood, and whenever they damaged a piece, they simply used it in the construction of the storage space and replaced the portion with a new one.
While that was taking place, Kael called out for Lawrence and Jayem in a meeting and proposed his idea of the reconstruction of the Cabal of Cards, which the duo happily agreed to, because it meant they could get more men under them instead of the initial ten men.
Lawrence and Jayem were still a bit new to the feeling of having loyal men under them, as the two were always working as a duo, and whenever they did work with someone else and got assigned a few men, most of the time those people were sent to observe them or for other reasons that lacked loyalty to them.
It was honestly a good feeling having people who couldn't betray them even if they wanted to. Needless to say, they swore not to give their slaves any good reason to truly betray them. After all, these people could still decide to take them down at the cost of their own lives if they're put in a desperate situation.
Once they were done with their meeting, Kael, Lawrence, and Jayem left the camp to hunt a few Magical Beasts to level up their weapon mastery.
It was around noon that the trio finally returned to camp.
Looking at his updated status window, Kael couldn't help smiling.

He was now close to leveling up his weapon mastery to five, which means he'll have to do the same method again to get an additional point directly to his power score. That experience might be a painful process,
And as expected, the remark stays the same. If he wants to start talking with it like an artificial intelligence in a system, he'll have to grow stronger until eventually he'll get to a level where he can finally upgrade the magic engraving for his status window.
Upon arriving at the entrance of their camp, Kael was immediately surprised to see a few familiar people standing around their gate.
They were the same people he saw at Manager Drex's camp.
In an instant, Lawrence and Jayem took out their respective weapons in preparation for the worst.
Kael also prepared his hand for his weapon as he slowly approached the group of men.
"Does your group have any business with me?" Kael asked calmly, but inwardly, he was cautious.
"Could you possibly be, sir Kael?" One of the men, who decided to represent their group, asked.
"Yes, I am Kael! Is there a problem?" Kael confirmed with a firm tone in his voice. There was no way he would remain calm after hearing that these people knew his name.
Noticing Kael's overbearingness, the man slightly hesitated before motioning his hand inside and saying, "Manager Drex is patiently waiting for you inside."
"Manager Drex?" Kael furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why didn't you say so!" Lawrence started laughing by the side, clearly trying to defuse the intense situation. "Let's go, let's go!"
Kael followed the direction the man outside was pointing, and soon he, Lawrence, and Jayem found Manager Drex sitting comfortably at the center of their camp, the latter's elbow propped comfortably on the table while sipping on coffee Nyvarr had prepared.
"What are you doing here, Manager Drex?" Kael still didn't let down his guard, especially after seeing the man's men preparing for something he still didn't have a single clue about until now. And strangely enough, those exact bags are sitting quietly right beside Manager Drex right now.
"You might want to consider sitting before we start talking," Manager Drex put down the coffee and motioned with his hand to the chair opposite him.
"Alright!" Kael complied as he sat down.
Lawrence and Jayem followed suit as the duo stood on both of Kael's sides, weapons ready in their respective hands, prepared as always.
"Now, now, there shouldn't be any need for weapons, right? After all, I'm only here to give you these," Manager Drex brought up one of the bags on top of the table, opened it, and laid down all of the contents inside.
Blue paper…
No wonder Ten Hearts described them as blue paper. That's because it's the color of the paper bills in Noverra.
"Oh," Kael couldn't be any more embarrassed at the way he was acting right now. "I guess I was simply overreacting," He chuckled.
"No worries," Manager Drex couldn't care less. There was no harm done anyway, so there's no need to make matters worse.
"I take it you've sold everything?" Kael assumed after seeing more bags by the side of Manager Drex.
"You should be asking me when I sold everything." Manager Drex chuckled. "To answer that question, I sold everything pretty much the next day after you gave me all one hundred knockoff Health Potions."
"To tell you the truth, I didn't expect those knockoff Health Potions would be that popular, so I tested one of them for myself to see the effect." Manager Drex nodded his head repeatedly. "So, you weren't really lying when you claimed it was a knockoff of the Health Potion."
"So, how much is everything in total?" Kael immediately asked the most important question.
"It still felt short of a million. But it shouldn't take long for us to pick up our initial capital and start earning some profit based on the current market trends," Manager Drex was no longer feeling worried about losing his investment.
"Good to know." Kael was relieved of the good news.
"Here!"
*Whoosh!
Manager Drex threw out a total of twelve bags to Lawrence and Jayem, which the duo easily caught after sheathing their weapons.
"Consider that as payment for the next batch. I'll take whatever amount of knockoff health potion you would give me for the price of seven hundred thousand Novarian Dollars," Manager Drex has complete faith that Kael would not cheat him out of his money.
