Chapter 39: Kael's Stats
Kael didn't witness what happened after his group left.
After exiting the tunnel, they arrived behind the counter of a busy tavern.
The bartender, who witnessed their group exiting the tunnel, secretly led them towards the back alley exit of their establishment so they could continue on their way without getting spotted by anyone.
Finally back at the main street, Kael's group immediately made their way to the southern gate of the Sylvaris Kingdom.
They greeted Elandor on their way out, and they then continued to the place of their camp.
Passing by Manager Drex's cabin, they noticed that the area had two more cabins now. However, there was still no one around to greet them, so they simply assumed Manager Drex had recruited some people and that they were still busy at the moment. So, they quickly moved on to finally reach their own camp.
Upon arriving in their camp, Kael already learned the names of the four slaves.
The beastman that belonged to the cat race was named Nyvarr. He used to be a soldier of the Murkwatch Kingdom before getting captured by slave dealers when their mission to capture an infamous criminal failed.
The three beastmen that belonged to the mouse race were Fievel, Silas, and Roderick. The three were all brothers and used to live together before Magical Beasts raided their village. After that event, they had no other place else to go, so they wandered around the forest until eventually getting captured by slave dealers.
"Nyvarr, from now on, you will be the first guard of our camp," Kael assigned before tossing a pair of iron claws.
Nyvarr caught the claws and replied. "Okay-nya!"
"As for the three of you," Kael turned to the three from the mouse race who indistinctively retreated. "In the meantime, one of you will gather materials near the camp, while the other two will assist Lawrence and Jayem in expanding the camp."
"I'll scavenge for resources, eep!" Roderick volunteered.
"We… will assist Sir Lawrence and Sir Jayem, eep!" Fievel responded while looking at Silas, who was currently hiding behind him and Roderick. "He... he's just shy, eep!"
"No problem," Lawrence waved his hand.
"Tha… thank you, epp!" Silas hid again behind Fievel.
"By the way, why does every time they finish a sentence, they add a nya and an eep sound?" Jayem whispered to Kael.
"That's just how beastmen are." Kael clarified.
"So, would the cow race from before say moo in every sentence?"
"Sometimes they'll go meeh or something, " Kael muttered as a joke.
"Now you're just trying to make me look like a fool," Jayem shrugged his shoulders.
"Anyways, you guys can go ahead and begin! I have something else I have to do." Kael turned around and waved his hand.
"Where are you going?" Lawrence couldn't help but ask.
"Since I have a profession now, I can start leveling up my stats," Kael didn't bother hiding his intentions.
"Leveling up?" Lawrence briefly thought about it. "Oh, you mean increasing your capability? If I recall correctly, you do need a profession to begin. But, we could also do it either way, right?"
"That's right!" Kael nodded. Having a profession was just better compared to having no profession.
"Alright! Take care!" Lawrence expressed.
Kael simply nodded in response before walking away.
…..
Kael arrived a few tens of kilometers away from their camp after close to an hour of walking farther east.
"This should be far enough," Kael muttered to himself as he looked around his surroundings.
The location he was at right now was still inside the forest of the Sylvaris Kingdom. Countless trees and different forms of flora surround him everywhere.
However, he wasn't here to gather materials.
The reason he traveled east this time around instead of going farther south or west was that, just like what he mentioned in the past, the closer one was to the center of the continent, the more dangerous the region becomes. Meaning, the easier it is to find a Magical Beast.
Taking out his ID Card, Kael raised it in front of him, just on the same level as his eyes, before tapping it twice.
*Whoosh!
In the next second, a bluish white light suddenly appeared right in front of him, showing a magical interface of his current stats.
To be more accurate, it was similar to a holographic display in the world of Noverra.
However, since in Avalon such technology doesn't exist, they compensate for it by using magic instead.
This kind of magic is what they call Engraving Magic.
Engraving Magic is a type of magic where an incantation is engraved in a medium instead of being chanted by a Mage. Needless to say, it is more difficult compared to chanting since they have to study the alphabet of magic, which is considered the alphabet of the world of Avalon itself, and is also completely different from the language they normally speak.
Naturally, the medium used for the Engraving Magic was the updated ID Card.
Not exactly the ID Card itself, instead it's each of the letters on the line next to the Profession. To be more accurate, when one looks closely at the word Merchant, they'll see that each letters are not written in a single stroke, rather they are formed into one using multiple magic symbols. These magic symbols are the letters in the alphabet of magic.
By tapping the ID Card, he infused some mana to trigger the Engraving Magic, which performed a Light Element Magic Spell that gathered the mana around him to form the magic interface.
This magic interface is also commonly called the Magic System.

"How I miss seeing this," Kael smiled. To tell the truth, it became some sort of habit for him to regularly check his stats in his first life. So, he couldn't help feeling slightly uncomfortable without it, and that something was missing ever since he returned to the past.
However, his expression was quickly replaced by disappointment after reading his stats. "No wonder I was having a hard time manipulating mana,"
With a score of five points in his mana, he's now questioning how exactly he was even able to complete the process of mana binding, which requires a lot of control in mana.
"My reincarnation should be a major factor," Kael could already pinpoint the reason why he still succeeded.
There were plenty of cases he witnessed in his first life where two people who possess the same points in their stats showcase different levels of capability.
One needs to always remember that numbers are not always going to be the only basis in determining one's own overall power. Sometimes, other factors should also be taken into consideration, like past experiences.
Since, in his case, he has gained a lot of experience in his first life, especially in life and death situations, it has allowed him to skillfully manipulate mana despite only having five points on it.
"My Strength, Stamina, and Agility are average, but it should be okay when hunting weaker Magical Beasts." Kael slightly felt helpless at his below-average stats.
Honestly, his stats aren't really considered low. But that is in the standard of Noverra. For the inhabitants of Avalon, the minimum stat is always twenty points. Even a kid would have fifteen points without any proper training.
The reason for that is that they've been exposed to mana ever since they were formed as a fetus in their mother's womb. As a result of that, their bodies were already long tempered by mana and had fully adapted to its existence.
On the contrary, people who live in Noverra were exposed to nothing but the rotten environment brought by the destruction of their environment. Basically, the only way to compete with the minimum power score of the inhabitants of Avalon is to inject a drug into one's own body or to install advanced prosthetics.
Naturally, that would change as the players continue to develop themselves in Avalon. And as they kill more Magical Beasts and learn different knowledge to increase their stats, they'll eventually be able to compete with the inhabitants of Avalon.
On the other hand, he was very satisfied with his weapon mastery being at level three.
"This is great!" Kael cheered for himself.
This was what he meant when he mentioned that individuals cannot increase their level. Instead, it's their mastery of a specific weapon that levels up.
A person's overall power could only be increased through repeated training, tempering, cultivation, and other ways that could bring benefit to an individual's stats.
However, killing Magical Beasts is not included.
Although the process of killing a Magical Beast could indeed be considered a form of training, and when they get injured, it's a form of tempering as well, it doesn't mean that as soon as they kill a Magical Beast, their stats will immediately increase.
In the case of weapon mastery, that is exactly the case.
