Chapter 71 - Uninvited Guest

Saturday.

Morning.

Lex was busy at his desk.

As the manager of the town's chemical plant, Lex was very busy.

"Young Master Lex."

The Well-dressed Butler, after knocking and receiving permission, entered the office.

"There is a woman outside the manor who claims to be Amanda Waller. She says she wants to consult with you about some matters related to the Luthor factory."

"Amanda?" Lex frowned, his previously casual posture straightening slightly.

As one of the elite in free America's upper society, Lex had naturally heard of Amanda Waller's name.

"The obese mad dog," "The high officials' loyal hound," "The government's black glove."

These were all labels attached to Amanda.

Concise, obedient, and useful – this was also considered a reason for Amanda's high position, along with perhaps a touch of black skin "magic."

But, if one didn't possess formidable strength, they wouldn't even qualify to be a dog for those officials.

Amanda was such a person; besides being fiercely loyal to her masters, she was also an excellent "biter."

Now, this troublesome woman had come to the town, undoubtedly making Lex feel a bit nervous.

Usually, when someone wants a person to disappear, they can pay some money and hire some killers.

But this doesn't work for politicians. After all, even when you beat a dog, you look at its owner. And Amanda Waller's owners are all high-ranking officials. Physically eliminating Amanda would only make enemies.

Lex said no more and waved his hand, signaling the Well-dressed Butler to leave.

Not long after the man left, Victoria, wearing a bathrobe and with a faint smile on her face, walked into the study. She had been eavesdropping outside. It seemed that her ex-boyfriend had quite a few secrets. She said, "You seem to be in trouble. Do you need my help?"

Lex smiled at the woman, "Oh, darling, if you could, please call Gino down."

Victoria sneered inwardly, but she spoke with a delicate tone, "Such a small matter, perhaps I can help you. No need to bother Gino, right?"

Victoria held a grudge against Gino for the humiliation he caused her in the evening. The woman finally found an opportunity to badmouth Gino in front of Lex.

"I know, but still, call him down."

Lex cut off what the woman was about to say with a smile.

The shrewd woman knew she couldn't be too hasty. She smiled, threw Lex a flirtatious glance, and then sashayed toward her brother-in-law's room.

Watching Victoria leave, the smile vanished from Lex's face instantly, so quickly it was almost instantaneous.

Lex coldly watched Victoria's back, tapping his fingers on the table, and slowly uttered a short word: "Fool."

He knew what the woman's true objective was.

But just as Gino had guessed, Lex didn't mind playing along with this fool of a woman; it was just a way to pass the time while he accumulated power.

However, the other party's act of slandering Gino still made Lex angry.

"Lex."

Gino, having enjoyed a rare lie-in, was pulled out of bed by his cheapskate older brother. He walked down the stairs, fiddling with the Kryptonite in his hand, and complained, "Why did you wake me up so early?"

"Gino, we have a problem," Lex said, resting his chin on his hands, looking at Gino. "Amanda Waller has come to town, and she's already got her eye on us."

Gino shrugged and sat down opposite Lex. He glanced outside the door, where a flash of a black skirt was visible.

He lowered his voice, "You're worried about what we have hidden at the chemical plant?"

"Yes."

Lex pursed his lips. "That woman isn't interested in money, only power. If she insists on investigating, our plans in this place will be ruined, and that bunch in the White House will get everything."

"No, no one will take our things," Gino interrupted Lex, resting his cheek on his hand. He looked at the serious-faced Lex with amusement, and pointed a finger at his cheapskate older brother. "Come on, Lex, what do you want me to do?"

He didn't believe the cunning Lex would be without a solution. Perhaps Lex had already found hundreds of solutions to the problem as soon as he knew Amanda Waller was coming.

Lex was silent for a moment, a cold gleam flashing in his dark green eyes. "Let's wait and see."

"If this woman insists on digging for answers…"

He chuckled, a smile twisting into something cruel. "Then, we'll send her a little 'gift'… to her neck."

Inside the Black Lincoln.

Amanda inhaled the car's fragrance, gazing through the window at the ancient Castle in the distance.

As a dog of the White House, Amanda understood the power of a behemoth like the Luthor family in America.

There was an unspoken rule between the wealthy and the powerful: they would maintain restraint, cooperating and competing at the same time.

Yet, the heir of such a colossal entity chose to hide away in a desolate town.

Considering the town's long history of strange deaths, Amanda felt a thick fog obscuring everything before her.

She licked her lips with a thick tongue, like a greedy toad.

The more mysterious the existence, the more it stimulated her research interests.

What secrets did the Luthor family hide beneath the town? She couldn't wait to find out.

She was very good at this sort of thing.

Politicians were dirty from head to toe.

"Beep beep~"

The car window tapped, and the driver lowered it.

The Luthor family's Well-dressed Butler, with white hair, said, "Ms. Amanda, the Luthor family welcomes your arrival."

"Alright." Amanda smiled, but the smile of the gloomy person also carried a sense of cunning. She simply returned to her poker face, moved her plump body out of the car, and followed the Well-dressed Butler into the Castle.

In the hall.

Several maids had already prepared the tea for the guests.

Luthor's ancestors had sailed across the sea from England to America, and the habit of drinking tea had continued to this day.

Looking at the golden forks and spoons, Amanda sneered in her heart, this group of extravagant Vampires are really rich.

She laboriously bent her knees and sat on the ornate sofa, her bulky figure causing the sofa to let out a painful groan, but fortunately, it held Amanda's weight.

The Black Lincoln took a sip of tea.

Two young people walked out from the inner side of the hall.

A stern-faced, composed young man with a shaved head stood, accompanied by a young man with golden hair. The golden-haired man had a calm expression, but also an air of indifference.

"Welcome, Ms. Amanda," Lex said, his face breaking into a warm, practiced smile, like a seasoned businessman.

The golden-haired man beside him, however, unceremoniously took a seat on the opposite sofa, barely glancing at Amanda.

"Mr. Luthor," Amanda said, shifting her gaze and rising to shake Lex's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
