Chapter 65 - A Soft-Hearted God

Night had fallen.

Kent Farm.

Inside the cottage.

Clark, wrapped in a blanket, had just showered. His hair was still damp, and he occasionally used a tissue to wipe his runny nose.

"I really can't believe it."

Jonathan and Martha stood on either side of Clark, their faces stern as they looked at him.

Martha crossed her arms, her gaze filled with worry. "Clark, what am I supposed to say to you? We were only gone for a day, and you manage to get involved in a murder case?"

Martha and Jonathan had gone to Metropolis for a vacation this morning, but before they could even enjoy their honeymoon, they received a call from Pete, informing them of Clark's collapse.

This threw a wrench in the couple's honeymoon plans. They rushed back to town in a panic.

Jonathan sighed, stroking the stubble on his chin, and handed Clark a tissue, teasing, "I never thought my boy would get sick."

Clark sniffled awkwardly, the hospital scene flashing through his mind.

After Gino left, Chloe and Pete brought tools, but they couldn't break the ice. Helpless, Clark had to use his fists, taking thirty seconds to break free.

Don't underestimate those 30 seconds. For Superman, 30 seconds was enough time to throw punches thousands of times.

Afterward, the police waiting at the hospital received news of Earl's escape and took Clark and the others to the police station to give statements.

It wasn't until Jonathan and Martha arrived at the police station that Clark avoided spending the night in a holding cell.

With Gino's display of power at the hospital flashing in his eyes, Clark had a headache again. Gino's rapid increase in strength was simply too fast.

If the other party was determined to kill Earl, he couldn't imagine how he could stop them.

"Alright, Clark, get some good rest tonight." Martha ruffled Clark's hair and stood up, heading toward the kitchen. "I'll make you some ginger water to ward off the cold."

Jonathan patted Clark on the shoulder and went upstairs to change his clothes.

After the couple left, Clark's big eyes darted around.

The next moment, the boy, like a bolt of lightning, pushed open the door and ran toward the warehouse.

Clark ran up to the second floor of the warehouse.

Inside the formerly abandoned warehouse, a black man was lying on a wooden plank.

Yes, after escaping the hospital, Earl, worried about being caught, had hidden himself on the second floor of the barn.

"Swish!"

Earl wasn't shocked by Clark suddenly appearing before him. Instead, he opened his eyes wide and pleaded, "Clark, please, you have to help me."

The black man said pitifully, "You've seen it too, the Luthor Family's child isn't normal. Lionel is definitely brewing an evil plan!"

Clark listened in silence, a little moved.

Just as Earl said, Gino's strength was indeed strange.

Earl continued to relate his miserable experience: "A while ago, I was sent to clean the third floor of the Luthor Chemical Plant. Those people were using some green stones from the town for secret experiments."

"That kind of stone can be made into a fertilizer that promotes plant growth."

"I accidentally fell into the crops at the time, and a few stones pierced my skin."

While speaking, Earl reached out a trembling hand, wiping the fine sweat from his forehead.

Clark's heart softened at the sight of his pitiful state.

He understood how Earl felt; his own body would weaken whenever he got close to Kryptonite.

Earl, keenly aware of the pity in Clark's eyes, seized the opportunity. Weakly, he grabbed Clark's arm and said, "Clark, do you know? Before the accident, I had a wonderful family, a beautiful wife, and lovely children."

"But that accident destroyed everything. My wife divorced me, and the judge gave custody of my children to her."

Earl shook Clark's arm, and teardrops the size of beans rolled down his cheeks as he looked up at Clark pitifully. "All I want now is to return to normal and take care of my family."

"Earl," Clark said, pursing his lips. His gaze was initially conflicted, but as he looked at Earl, tormented by the Kryptonite, his hesitant expression gradually became firm. "How can I help you?"

Hearing Clark's words, the black man was overjoyed. Wiping away the tears on his face, he said urgently, "The third floor of the Luthor Chemical Plant! There's a secret there that can restore me to normal!"

"Luthor Chemical Plant?" Clark frowned, deep in thought.

He remembered that the school seemed to be organizing a visit to the Luthor Group tomorrow.

"I understand, Earl."

Clark patted the black man's shoulder, staring into his eyes: "Leave it to me, I'll help you."

At the same time Clark made his promise to Earl.

Luthor Manor.

The originally peaceful grassland was swept by a gust of wind, causing the grass to sway.

"Swish."

Like a gust of wind, yet also like thunder, Gino appeared in the hall as if out of thin air.

"Young master."

The blonde maid brought over the milk. Gino took a sip, moistening his dry lips, his eyes gleaming.

"I've searched almost the entire town, but there's no sign of that black man. Where did he go?"

Gino leaned back on the sofa, tapping his finger lightly on the armrest.

No, there's one place he hasn't been.

Kent Farm, the Clark family's place.

Because of the conflict with Clark this evening, Gino didn't want to barge into Kent Farm. It would only make their relationship more awkward.

"But," Gino changed his position, stroking his chin and muttering to himself, "Clark shouldn't be stupid enough to believe a murderer, right?"

Night fell, and Gino decided to stop thinking about it, returning to his room.

He turned on his computer, and a message quickly popped up.

The message was from Tina, the informant Gino had sent to monitor Talia.

[Tina: The League of Assassins is as usual, but I heard a man named Booth passed Ra's al Ghul's trial, successfully graduated, and refused Ra's al Ghul's invitation to join the League of Assassins.]

Browsing the information Tina had sent, Gino's gaze lingered on the name Booth for a moment. Passing the League of Assassins' trial and refusing Ra's al Ghul's invitation.

Perhaps, this person might be the alias of Bruce Wayne, the one who roamed the world?

Tapping on the keyboard, Gino briefly replied, "Understood."

"Ding Dong," the message was successfully sent.

At the same time, in a dimly lit room far away on Devil's Island.

Tina stood behind the computer chair, watching the brown-haired woman typing on the keyboard, a playful, malicious smile on her face.

Talia's collagen-filled, foxy face was full of mockery. Through the reflection on the computer screen, the woman glanced at Tina, who looked like a frightened kitten, and lightly opened her red lips, saying, "Don't be nervous, Tina. I'm just telling the truth for you. This man won't find out."

Tina nodded, her eyes full of bitterness.

Soon after meeting Talia, the woman had used truth serum to make her reveal her purpose for being here.

But for some reason, Talia hadn't chosen to imprison her, but instead, let her follow her.

Sighing inwardly, Tina's eyes were filled with weariness. When would this exciting, double-agent life end?
