Chapter 15: The Unstoppable Force

[Time – Minutes Later – A High-Speed Chase in Los Angeles]

The city was a blur of neon and concrete, a frantic, swirling vortex of noise and light. Adam, a ghost in the night, was running. Or rather, he was phasing. He was a whisper in the wind, a shadow moving between the cracks in reality. He was in a race against time, a final, desperate gambit.

[SYSTEM: A-Rank: Phasing (Advanced) Initiated. Time remaining: 10 minutes.]

He was a ghost. He was a force of nature. He moved through cars, through walls, through the very fabric of reality, a single, focused thought in his mind. He had to get to Pepper. He had to give her the intel. He had to save Tony. He was no longer just an observer. He was a player. He was a ghost with a mission.

He saw her, a small, terrified figure in a car, her phone pressed to her ear. She was talking to Tony, her voice a low, frantic whisper. He moved to her side, a silent, invisible presence. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small data chip. He held it in his palm, and without her noticing, he placed it in her hand. Her fingers brushed against his, and she flinched, a small, confused sound escaping her lips.

He was gone before she could say a word.

It's done. It's in her hands. She has the intel. Now she just has to use it.

He phased through a building, a silent, efficient ghost. He had to get to a TV. He had to see. He had to know if he had made a difference. He ran into a small electronics store, his body a shimmering ghost, his mind a single, focused thought. He watched the screen.

[SYSTEM: Warning: System Stability at 20%. External Energy Source Required.]

The message was a cold, cruel punch to the gut. The bond, the stabilization, it had taken a toll. He was running on fumes. But it didn't matter. He had a new life. And that life was worth more than his own.

On the TV screen, the news was a chaotic, panicked stream of images. The Iron Monger, a giant, hulking monstrosity of metal and hate, was battling a sleek, red and gold figure. Iron Man. The fight was brutal, fast, and terrifying.

A reporter, her voice laced with terror, was yelling into her microphone.

"The police are saying this is a 'malfunctioning prototype'! They're telling everyone to stay away! This is madness!"

The reporter was wrong. The suit was not malfunctioning. It was a weapon of war. But Adam had a final, secret weapon. He had a message, a whisper, a subtle manipulation. He had placed a small, simple bug in a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent's comms, one he had encountered a few weeks back. It was a single, repeated message, a lie he had crafted.

"Target is experiencing system malfunctions. Threat is limited. Do not engage."

He had saved them. He had saved Tony. He had saved Pepper. He had played his final card. And now, he had to hope that his gamble would pay off. His energy was fading, but his mission was complete. He had delivered the message. The ghost was gone.
