She cleaned off her tears. This was her last trump card and she was going to use it well. "I'm pregnant."
Nathan stared at her, stunned by her words. He sized her up, his eyes lingering on her flat stomach as if he was expecting it to show a baby bump already.
"You're not pregnant," he stated.
Katherine scoffed as she rummaged through her bag, searching for something. Once she found it, she gave it to Nathan.
"That's the pregnancy test. I'm one month pregnant," she said.
She'd been feeling lightheaded the past week and decided to go take a test, only to find out she was pregnant.
She felt lucky because she could use the baby to stay married to Nathan. But whoever the father was, she wasn't sure. But she wasn't going to tell him that.
Nathan still couldn't believe his eyes.
