Inside a familiar room, a bearded man could be seen looking at a glass orb with a serious and attentive expression.
A moment later, he slumps into his chair, heaving a heavy sigh.
It was at that moment that he heard a knock on the door.
Ernst walked into the office, spotting his grandfather, who wasn't in the best of moods.
He wondered what had happened for his grandfather to be like this.
Fortunately, his questions were soon to be answered.
"Can you believe it? Even with the influence of the sect, they still can't trace that kid's origins. No family goes by the name of Jensson. And there are no clues about the mother being in any other place other than Arvenca."
Ernst was surprised as he knew who his grandfather was referring to.
It was none other than Jarek.
Two months ago, they had noticed something strange about his past.
When they searched for any clues, they ended up empty-handed.
But since they were handling someone like Jarek, they took this matter seriously and reported everything to the sect, believing they would be able to uncover what they had not been able to.
However, even the Myriad Dao Sect's methods proved to be insufficient.
It was like Jarek had sprung up from out of nowhere.
It was incomprehensible.
"It seems even the Order will have to be involved if that is the case."
The Deputy Academy Head then turned to face Ernst. "So what brings you here?"
"It is about Jarek. He has advanced yet again."
The Deputy Academy Head felt a headache coming on.
"How is that possible? Doesn't he have almost no points?"
He couldn't fathom how Jarek's cultivation was still progressing.
"Yes, that is indeed the case. The number of points in his possession is minimal."
"Then where is he getting the resources from? Did he join a noble family?" Even though he knew that possibility was slim, he still asked.
The reason he thought so was that, just like Brynhild, he knew that people like Jarek, blessed with overflowing, would never willingly chain themselves.
There have been hardly any people who have placed themselves under noble families.
And he believed Jarek wouldn't be among this minority.
"That is unclear."
"Hmmm?"
"Since around two months ago, Jarek, Brynhild, and Astrid have been closely interacting with one another."
The Deputy Head's focus peaked.
"They have been training with one another, almost every day, and they appear to be quite close to one another. Whether he has gone under one of them remains unknown, but it is possible that one of them or even both of them are lending him resources. At least, that's the most logical conclusion with all the information we have at our disposal."
The Deputy Academy Head sighed deeply. "That kid is nothing but trouble. First, his origins are so mysterious that even the sect that has so much power can't unravel them. Second, the method we were using to bring him to the sect is now completely useless. If it were anyone else, there would have been room to maneuver, but when it involves royalty, my hands are tied. I can't offend the kingdoms of Blazoria and Longsora for a mere Grandmaster."
He was certain the Order would suffer greatly if he were to act on his intentions.
And he wasn't stupid enough to go through with that decision.
If there were forces in this world that reigned supreme, then they were undoubtedly royal families.
Their power was so great that even the academy, which was a part of the world's most powerful individual force, had to give them face.
It is for this reason that even if they don't want to, the academy has to bend the rules for royalty if they happen to join the academy and the sect.
It is also because of this that when Brynhild and Astrid wanted to share the same underground chamber, they faced no resistance whatsoever.
But now he hoped that Jarek hadn't been roped into their forces.
Even though Jarek was human, everyone was aware of what potential he had.
If he were even a fraction of what the Supreme Dao Empress was, then every power in the world would want to get their hands on him.
'It doesn't matter. The plan has failed.' Even if Jarek has not joined either side, with resources in his possession, the academy can no longer take advantage of his desperation.'
"It seems I will have to report that in as well." He held his head as if he were suffering from a headache.
"I don't know what action the order will take, but I hope they solve this issue. I sincerely hope it doesn't come to what I am thinking of. They better not do anything reckless."
