Chapter 35 - Operation: Capture Eira

While Jarek was busy fighting in his match for the day, outside the gates of the academy, a group of individuals had gathered with sinister intentions.

Just a short distance away from Eira's house, Thrain's subordinates moved up the town's buildings at a speed that normal people couldn't keep track of with their vision.

It was no surprise that they could move without being spotted.

It was only when Eira's house was tens of metres away that they slowed down.

Luckily for them, Eira's home was situated in an area with very few people.

Only rich people lived in these parts, at least among mortals.

That's why nobody saw them entering Eira's house through an open window on the top floor of the house.

Once inside, they searched the entire house only to find it empty; no one was inside.

Their target wasn't home.

Leif turned to the rest of the group and said. "Don't worry. She will be back by noon. In the meantime, let's prepare ourselves."

Nothing more needed to be said, as the vampires moved to find the best hiding positions possible.

Time passed, and noon soon arrived, and a few minutes later, the door opened to reveal a beautiful woman with black hair entering.

After taking a few steps into the house, she suddenly stopped walking as if she had sensed something amiss.

The vampires hiding in the dark then heard Eira's voice addressing them.

"You can come out now. I know you are there."

She didn't need to see them with her eyes to know they were there.

The figures in the shadows slowly revealed themselves, appearing one after another.

There were nine of them in total, three Masters and six Advanced stage cultivators.

"How did you know?" Leif, the leader of this operation, was curious.

"Your concealment needs some work."

Leif then understood, "So you also practice shadow laws."

Eira nodded, and Leif looked at the Advanced stage cultivators, thinking they had been discovered because of them.

It seemed as if Eira's mastery over shadow laws was to be admired.

'Well, it doesn't matter.'

Leif then took a good look at Eira for a moment, trying to find any possible threat.

'No storage bags or weapons. She won't be a problem.'

Mir's repeated failures to deal with Jarek had taught them not to underestimate their enemies, let alone anything related to Jarek Jensson.

Otherwise, why would Thrain send in a force that could deal with three Masters just to capture an Advanced stage cultivator?

Noticing that Eira posed no threat, he ordered the Advanced stage cultivators to capture her.

"You six, restrain her. If she resists, you can hurt her, but don't cause any serious injuries."

The six vampires moved in unison, surrounding Eira.

Leif had a relaxed expression on his face as he watched this happen.

But then he realized something odd.

'Why is she still so calm?'

Eira, an Advanced Stage cultivator, was surrounded by multiple enemies of the same stage.

Shouldn't she be panicking in this situation?

Leif couldn't understand what was going through Eira's mind right now.

One of the vampires cut his skin as his blood flowed out.

|Blood Chain|

A chain made of blood bound Eira's movements, locking her arms and legs into place.

But her expression didn't change one bit.

It was at this moment that Leif felt something was wrong.

Sure enough, one moment Eira was restrained by one of the vampire's abilities, and in the next moment, the blood chains were destroyed and the attacker had a hole pierced straight through his chest.

The perpetrator? It was Eira's arm that she had thrust like a spear, easily piercing straight through the vampire's chest as if it were paper.

The other vampires couldn't believe what they were seeing.

It all happened so fast that they couldn't comprehend what had happened until it was too late.

What they could see was Eira's hand coming out of the vampire's back, covered with blood.

As she removed her hand, the vampire collapsed to the ground, dead without a doubt.

Eira, seeing her bloody arm, created a ball of water and used it to cleanse herself of the blood of her attacker.

Everyone felt their hair stand on end as they witnessed everything from start to finish.

Leif was no exception.

'Just one hit?'

All it took to end that vampire was one hit from Eira, and a casual one at that.

Leif was terrified by this.

The only person he thought would be able to do the same was his boss, and even he wouldn't be able to do it with the same ease as Eira.

His mind was in utter chaos at the realization that they had just attacked a Grandmaster.

As he thought about this, his thoughts were proven true when Eira revealed the aura of a Grandmaster.

Leif, feeling the pressure Eira was exerting, felt that Eira was even more powerful than his boss.

The sense of oppression he felt under Eira's aura was far scarier than what he felt from Thrain.

'I need to warn the boss about this.'

And so...

"Flee! Retreat!" Leif shouted the order and was the first to run.

His subordinates followed suit.

Eira raised her hand and extended it forward.

Frost formed from her palm and was fired at the fleeing vampires.

The air in the room turned so cold as the temperature dropped drastically.

Before Leif and the others could successfully escape, they were turned into ice sculptures.

Eira then slowly walked over to Leif, whom she thought was the leader, and manipulated the ice covering his face, liquifying it into cold water.

Leif took several deep breaths of air before he noticed his situation.

His body, aside from his head, was completely frozen, utterly incapable of movement.

He turned his head to look around the room, and sure enough, he wasn't the only living ice sculpture around.

Leif slightly shivered as he looked at the frozen bodies, not just because of the cold but also due to fear.

He then turned his focus to Eira, who was standing in front of him with an expressionless face.

Leif felt uncomfortable looking into Eira's gaze and averted his face to look to the side.

But he was forced to look back at Eira when he heard her next words.

"You are from Belmora, aren't you?"

Leif's eyes slightly narrowed, his heart beating wildly as he tried to keep his composure.

"I don't know what you are talking about. I have never even been to Belmora." Leif said, implying he didn't understand what Eira was saying.

But how could Eira be so easily fooled?

"Not too long ago, a vampire named Mir and his minions also came to attack us in this very room. I know for a fact that he was from Belmora. And now, another group of vampires appears with the same purpose, and you claim you are not related? Not everyone is a fool."

Leif just remained silent, knowing in his heart that there was nothing he could do to fool this woman and could only curse Mir in his heart. 'Damn you, Mir. It's all because of you that we are in this mess.'

If only he hadn't failed miserably, they wouldn't even have had to deal with this woman.

Leif had never really liked Mir when he was alive.

Mir's talent was worse than his, and yet he was his superior even though their cultivation levels were the same.

He only had his position because of his relations with Thrain.

So, he was overjoyed when Mir died, and he got the position he thought he rightfully deserved.

But now, in his heart, he couldn't help but feel regretful that Mir had failed to get rid of these two when he had the chance.

Now, he was going to share the same fate Mir did, dying at the hands of this black-haired beauty.
