Chapter 5 - Two Anomalies

Jarek had already finished filling out the form and had handed it out.

He just had to fill in his personal information and the classes he wanted to take, and a few other things.

Ronald dismissed everyone as soon as all the students had handed out their forms.

Each individual or group of students had their plans for the day, as classes would begin tomorrow.

Some of them planned to cultivate until late into the night, while others decided to tour the academy.

Jarek fell into the second category. Though he felt that even if he spent months touring this academy at his current pace, he would never explore every area of this academy.

It was just that big, though most of its lands are undeveloped areas like forests and so on.

But as for what he could explore in a single day, he chose to look at the various halls, realms, and other facilities.

He even went to the cafeteria to try out the food.

They were not serving any mortal food, Jarek was expecting, but meat from special beasts reared inside the academy.

And after taking a bite of the food, he felt his qi circulating faster and smoothly, though the effect was minimal.

He finished his meal and, without wanting to stay any longer, he left, resuming his tour.

When it was evening, he finally went back to his room.

'It looks like no one suspected anything.' He smiled lightly as he thought so.

He was, of course, referring to how no one was able to sense his cultivation.

Even Ronald didn't notice anything.

And that filled him with reassurance that as long as he didn't give others a reason to suspect him, his secret would be safe.

He had spent most of his day at the library, gathering as much knowledge as possible, and had already developed his plans based on the information he got there.

------

Early the next morning, Jarek had woken up ready for class.

He was currently seated at the back corner of the class next to a window.

During his school days back on Earth, he had enjoyed sitting in this position quite a lot.

He couldn't help but think back to those early years of his life as he observed the rest of his new classmates.

Two particular students managed to draw his attention.

One of them had long bright red hair cascading like molten lava down her back, shimmering with strands that seemed to flicker like flames dancing in the twilight.

Her eyes, a deep amber with flecks of gold, glow softly with an inner fire, reflecting both her royal lineage and the mythical phoenix spirit within her.

Her skin held a warm, sun-kissed hue, radiant and smooth as though kissed by eternal embers.

And the other had long chestnut brown hair cascading down her back in thick waves, occasionally shimmering with hints of copper in sunlight, framing a face both fierce and beautiful.

As Jarek was observing them, Astrid as if alerted to his gaze, looked in his direction, only for him to immediately shift his gaze elsewhere to avoid suspicion.

Brynhild, who was beside her, noticed her strange behavior and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I felt as if I felt someone looking at me, observing me..." Astrid replied, now a bit unsure of what she said as she failed to find that person.

Jarek, on the other hand, was surprised even if he didn't show it in his expression. 'Dragons sure do have great instincts.'

This time he was more discreet this time as he observed them.

He felt something strange coming from these two—something that made them different from the other students.

Along with his advancement to the Advanced stage, Jarek's sensitivity towards energy deepened to a terrifying degree.

And his senses told him that there was something not quite right about these two.

From what he could sense from his classmates, he divided them into three groups.

The first group had the least unique aura signatures of the three, and the second group had auras that seemed unrelenting, almost as if they had a will of their own.

But in the case of the third group, consisting of only Brynhild and Astrid, he felt as if they were connected with the very world.

When Jarek inquired about the reason, the system told him that they were things he couldn't afford to know right now.

Thus, he was left wondering what the reason was for this strange phenomenon and the status of these two women.

'Who are they? They don't seem like ordinary nobles.' Jarek wondered and would later figure out the identity of these two as princesses.

His thoughts were interrupted when someone who had the appearance of a middle-aged man entered the class.

The chats all across the room soon died down as soon as they saw that the instructor had arrived.
