Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Righteous Tremble

Three days after the fall of Elder Fang, the cultivation world was in chaos.

News spread like wildfire.

> "The Devourer has awakened."

"The Celestial Lotus Sect lost an entire unit."

"He absorbs Qi, souls, and Dao. He is not bound by the heavens."

"His name is Mo Tian."

In the upper realms, golden palaces buzzed with whispers. In forbidden sects and hidden clans, ancient cultivators opened their eyes in grim silence. In the great cities of the righteous, fear settled over pride.

Even the lowliest rogue cultivator had heard the rumor—

> "He doesn't just kill… he consumes everything you are."

---

Meanwhile, Mo Tian sat cross-legged within a bloodstained forest, surrounded by a circle of blackened bones.

His cultivation surged again—mid-stage Core Formation.

Too fast. Too unnatural. Too unstable for most…

But for him, it was perfect.

A shadow approached from behind a tree—hooded, cautious.

> "So the rumors are true," the figure muttered. "You really did kill Fang."

Mo Tian didn't look. "You're from the Thousand Ghost Sect. I can smell the soul poison on your breath."

The figure chuckled. "I bring a proposal, not poison. The righteous sects will come for you in full force. We wish to offer an alliance."

Mo Tian opened his eyes, dark as a void.

> "No alliance."

The man froze. "Why? We share enemies—"

> "You're cowards who hid for centuries while my mother burned alone. You want me to shield you."

"I'm not here to join anyone."

Mo Tian stood, black aura rising behind him like a devil's wings.

> "I'm here to make this world bleed."

Before the messenger could beg, his shadow twisted—then rose like a fang from the earth and impaled him through the throat.

No more words.

Only silence.

---

Later that night, far across the land, bells rang within the sacred towers of the Jade Sky Sect—one of the Five Great Righteous Clans.

A celestial elder, draped in starlight silk, rose from meditation.

> "The Devourer has declared war," he said.

"Summon the Grand Alliance. It's time we erased the curse."

---

Back in the forest, Mo Tian looked up at the moon—red and cracked.

> "Come, then," he whispered.

He smiled.

> "Come feed me."
