Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The Girl Who Wasn’t Her

Four weeks after the bar incident, Lee Rang vanished. No trails. No digital prints. No face in any camera.

People assumed he left Seoul. The truth?Even Lee Rang didn't know where he was going.

In the heart of Seoul's elite districts, however, something bigger had stirred.

What the public believed:A chaebol daughter had been attacked, and her security had since doubled.

What the public didn't know:The girl who appeared to be the chaebol heiress... wasn't.

She was only a friend.A stand-in.A decoy.

The real chaebol daughter was the ordinary girl who had gone unnoticed.

The one whose instincts felt Lee Rang's presence. The one whose eyes searched the shadows when no one else did.She had been hiding in plain sight.

When her father found out that her cover had been breached, her security tightened to a level even her closest friends couldn't cross. Her father—a powerful but kind-hearted man, known for secretly helping whistleblowers, lost children, and victims of corruption—suspected enemies had found a way in.

But nothing could be proven.

Somewhere else—far away—Lee Rang sat in a plain metal room, being interviewed for a strange job.

No company name.No offer letter.Just one line:

"High-risk task. Full anonymity. Payment beyond imagination."

He didn't ask questions.He didn't need reasons.

He simply said: "Accepted."

That night, he was blindfolded, drugged, and moved to an unknown location.

When he awoke, he was inside a mansion, surrounded by walls so tall they swallowed the sky. There were seven masked men seated in a circular room lit only by candlelight.None of them spoke—until one slid an envelope toward him across the table.

He opened it.Inside:

A single photo of a girl

A name: Unknown

Instructions in red ink:

"Track her. Capture her. Use no names. No killings unless she resists. No questions.""You will know her by how others react. She is not what she seems."

Lee Rang froze.

He knew the girl.

Not from the bar.Not from the chaebol family. This was someone else.

Someone bigger.

She was a ghost in the government's sealed files.A face seen only in rare, high-level conferences.Sometimes in blurred news footage.Other times in camera malfunctions.

Her identity?A national riddle. Some believed she was a former child spy.Others claimed she held secrets that could bring down governments. The only problem? No one knew which of the hundred lookalikes in the country was the real her.

Even the agencies chasing her didn't have her name.

Lee Rang was now part of a game far beyond his understanding.

They gave him 4 months of brutal, inhuman training.

Military tactics.Bounty hunting systems.Multi-environment survival.Psychological warfare.Facial deception.Poison resistance.Digital erasure.

No mentor.No comfort.

Only pain, precision, and purpose.

Finally, one day, he stood at the edge of an airfield. No phones. No name. No return.

He was told:

"This mission cannot fail.If it does—you don't return."

Lee Rang didn't blink.

He stepped onto the jet.

And the countdown began.
