Chapter 8 - No Place To Hide

The capital town looked liked it had been abandoned place for years , swallowedby silence. No footsteps were heard in the streets, everybody in town stayed locked inside their homes, hiding from something. They lived in fear of someone terror. For decades, proper sleep had become a luxury they couldn't afford.

In the daytime, the town bustled with life, but when night fell, Many report of missing people were heard and only those with a death wish dared to step outside. So the place was incredibly famous for paranormal activities.

But tonight was different.

For the first time in decades, someone was willing to walk freely in those haunted streets alone. There were no lights only dark shadows followed.

A masked girl moved quietly through the dark, unbothered by the silence. She wasn't lost, she was observing and analyzing the situation. Searching for the traces of something supernatural movements.

The farther she walked, the more darker began to appear. In that dark its seems like there was nothing. But in deep there were some people… no one but many were stalking just behind her since start. They were not visible atleast not yet. But their presence crawled along the edges of the dark, waiting.

Waiting for the perfect moment...

Waiting for her to step into the deepest part of the street, the moment she steps in that area she will be swallowed by countless.

She began to continue her steps in that dark area, unknown by the danger that follows.

Her steps remained steady, her posture was calm. But behind that mask, her senses were sharp even the small movement she can trace. She could feel the tension, the hunger amd the hatred aura pressing in from all sides.

The shadows were getting impatient. She takes one step towards the dark alley.

Someone charged towards her with a blur motion, silent and incredibly fast.

It lunged from the darkness, fangs gleaming, aiming straight for her neck with instant kill.

As the fang was near at her neck from 2 cm away. She heard the danger from her enhanced sense. The shadow bite the neck of the girl but at the last moment she twisted her whole body with reflexes. The attack was missed by inches, slicing the air where her throat had been.

She landed far from the shadow, her eyes locked on the spot the figure had struck from.

The game had started.

From the shadows, the attacker finally stepped into the moonlight, fangs bared, eyes glowing red. The creature was non other than

A vampire.

Then more began to emerge from shadows one were over rooftops, others behind fogged windows, and dark alleyways they came forward one by one.

Not five. Not ten.

Over forty of them. Surrounding her like a prey. Cornering her into middle, there was no escape from this situation.

One of the vampires stepped ahead of the group. His voice was cold and experienced.

"No one's dared to walk these streets at night in decades. Yet here you here come alone. Maybe you are either a fool… or someone very strong send by the higher authorities."

The others growled, some crouching low, ready to strike her down any moment.

But the masked girl wasn't afraid as she had expected to jump on her. She tilted her head, her voice calm and mocking beneath the mask.

"Isn't it a little unfair?" she said with a smirk.

"Jumping on a 'weak little girl' like me with this many bloodsuckers? Don't you feel ashamed? Or maybe you rotting corpses don't have any pride left, lol?"

A low hiss spread through the group. The tension had began to grow, finally the hunt for girl began.

The vampires lunged from all directions using their claws slashing, fangs flashing in the dark.

Their attacks came fast, all of their attack seems calculated. Some strikes nearly grazed her mask, others tore through the air just inches from her neck. But not a single stike landed.

She kept moving bending, ducking amd spinning through the chaos. Her steps were precise, her reactions was unnaturally sharp.

Like she knew where the attacks would come from before they were even thrown. It seems like she knows future.

One vampire hissed in disbelief.

"Impossible… no human has reflexes like that!"

Another growled, frustrated.

"If these tactics won't work then we should change the plan."

They began circling her, tightening the space around her with every step. From a wide ring of shadows, they compressed in, driving her into a corner, they manage to close the distance with no room to move and dodge.

And then they jumped. All at once , they leapt. Dozens of bloodthirsty predators crashing down on her from every direction, fangs aimed at her throat.

Nowhere to run.

No space to breathe.

Just fixed death.

…Or so they thought.

she spoke with calm manner.

"So... you guys decided to end the game with that move?"

Her voice echoed through the tight alleyway, sharp and confident.

"Looks like this is the end...just not for me.

It's the end of your lives."

Her hand slipped into her pocket, fingers curling around something hidden. In one swift motion, she drew it out. A dark, twisted blade, dragged from the shadows themselves flared to life in her hand.

Before the vampires could even react, she moved. One step. One blur. One clean, perfect slash. A storm of blood followed everywhere the dagger follow.

The sky seemed to split as her blade carved through the air, tearing through every vampire that leapt at her way.

Twenty-five of them fell instantly, their bodies sliced clean in half, collapsing like broken puppets.

The silence afterward was heavier than the blood-slick ground. The remaining vampires trembled. Panic overtook them.

They turned to run-

But it was already too late.

She took a single step forward.

Just one.

And in that blink of movement, every remaining vampire dropped dead.

No scream were heard,

"Tch," she muttered, wiping the blade clean.

"Weaklings."

She looked around at the blood-soaked alley, then casually tapped her blade against her shoulder.

"Hm… where was I going again?" she mumbled, as if the massacre meant nothing to her.

She glanced up at the moonlit sky, thinking for a second.

"Oh, right. The forest... somewhere near the castle, wasn't it?"
