Half an hour after the car stopped in the basement of an abandoned building, Cherry was still waiting to learn what her captors wanted.
The men finally pulled her out and threw her onto the floor. Her bound hands could not break her fall. Pain shot through her body, but the tape over her mouth trapped her cry.
She tried to move her feet. The bindings held.
Then the lights flickered on.
Cherry blinked against the sudden brightness. A woman approached, smiling as though she had come to meet an old friend.
Faye.
Cherry stared at her. Until that moment, she had not known who had arranged this. Now Faye stood over her, looking pleased with the sight of her helpless on the floor.
The tape came off her mouth.
"You?" Cherry's voice shook. "What do you want from me?"
Faye bent toward her and caught her chin, forcing her to look up.
"What did you do to Flynn?" she asked. "What made him so crazy about you?"
