Cherry clenched her fists. She didn't speak and firmly closed her mouth.
One second... Two seconds... Three seconds...
Cherry remained speechless, which was why Gilbert's patience seemed to have run out. He stepped closer to the woman and then growled.
"Speak and explain!" Gilbert demanded, then grabbed Cherry's arm tightly. His eyes were glaring as if he wanted to eat the woman alive.
Before Cherry could answer, Elijah quickly came to her aid. He pulled her behind him and hid her.
"Mister Ace Carter, you're hurting Cherry," Elijah reprimanded her with a serious expression.
"Get lost. I'm not talking to you," Gilbert replied firmly, then pushed Elijah away and pulled Cherry closer to him again.
"Speak!" he ordered Cherry, whose eyes were now filled with fear.
Cherry couldn't figure out why the man was so angry with her. Isn't he just a substitute? A substitute that can be thrown away when it gets dirty? So why are things like that at those moments?
