"You don't have to worry," Ethan said solemnly. "I'll leave as soon as I challenge the Celadon Gym."

"I trust your abilities. In that case, I wish you a successful challenge," Handsome said, then his tone changed. "But I have to tell you something else about the previous incident. Once we're ready, we'll form a special operations team to be the vanguard when we raid Team Rocket's base. You might be invited to join us then."

"Huh? Me?" Ethan was surprised at first but quickly agreed. "Of course. Since Team Rocket has already made me a target, I can't just stand by. But who else will be on this special operations team?"

"Well..." Handsome thought for a moment. "Those who join the special ops team will naturally be powerful. We'll do our best to invite the Elite Four and also contact outstanding Gym Leaders from the Pokémon League."

Ethan nodded. If they could get a team like that, they could definitely walk through Team Rocket's base with ease.

After hanging up the phone, Ethan followed the main road to the Celadon Gym.

The Celadon Gym's exterior was similar to a typical school gymnasium. Its roof was an earthy yellow, and its sides were silver-gray. It was situated within a large garden in the city center. As the official Gym of Celadon City, Gym Leader Erika specialized in Grass-type Pokémon. Defeating her would earn a Trainer the Rainbow Badge.

Entering the Gym, Ethan first arrived in the spacious lobby. A few beautiful young women in shorts were working there. Seeing him, one of the blue-haired girls walked over.

"Can I help you with something?"

After Ethan stated his purpose, she led him inside the Gym. Leaving the lobby, the first thing they saw were a series of greenhouses enclosed in glass panels. The greenhouses were lush and green, filled with flourishing trees, shrubs, and flowers. Instead of a Gym for battles, it looked more like an indoor botanical garden.

The perfumes Ethan had bought yesterday were produced here. The staff, all young and beautiful girls, not only worked at the Gym but also had other duties, managing the business at the perfume shop. Along the way, many Grass-type Pokémon scurried about, playing and having fun under the care of the staff.

They reached the end of the corridor and finally arrived at a simple, elegant room. Through the window, they could see Erika kneeling on a tatami mat in the main seat. With a pair of scissors, she was trimming a flower branch in a vase while explaining something to a few women in front of her.

Seeing Ethan's focused gaze, the blue-haired girl beside him explained, "Erika isn't just the Gym Leader; she's also a famous ikebana artist. Many people come to her every week to learn the art of flower arranging. Sir, do you also like flower arranging?"

"Yes, in a way, I'm a fan of flower arranging as well," Ethan nodded. "It's pleasing to the eye and the heart. It's a great way to regulate one's emotions."

After a short while, the class ended. When Erika came out of the room and saw Ethan, she immediately recognized him.

"You're the person from the shop yesterday?"

Ethan said, "That's right, it's me. I didn't want to intrude last time, but this time, I've come specifically to challenge you, Ms. Erika."

Upon closer inspection, Ethan found Erika to be truly beautiful. She looked to be around eighteen or nineteen, with a petite and small stature. Her attire, both for daily life and work, was a kimono, which showed she was a traditional woman. Her every movement exuded a sense of Yamato Nadeshiko grace.

"I see. Please follow me."

The three returned the way they came. When they reached a fork in the path, they turned towards the Gym's battle arena. Seeing all the Grass-type Pokémon again, Ethan couldn't help but say, "Oddish, Bellsprout, Exeggcute, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Vileplume... the variety of Grass-type Pokémon here is quite impressive."

Erika smiled. "I've loved nature since I was a child and have a deep affection for Grass-type Pokémon, so I've raised quite a few. And the perfumes in my shop are all made from substances extracted from their leaves."

They arrived at the battle arena, standing on opposite sides. Despite her expertise in Grass-type Pokémon, the field had no special obstacles to give her an advantage. It was just a wide, ordinary field. The only notable thing was a skylight directly above the arena. The sun was high in the sky, and its warm light shone down, covering the entire field.

The blue-haired girl walked to the center and acted as the referee.

Erika said, "The Pokémon rules here are a limit of three. If you can defeat all my Pokémon, you win the match!" With that, she sent out her first Pokémon.

This was a Pokémon whose entire body was covered in winding vines. It had no arms, only a pair of feet that seemed to be wearing red boots sticking out. Through the vines, one could only see a pair of large eyes and nothing else.

Pokédex: "Beep. Tangela, the Vine Pokémon. Grass-type. Its entire body is covered in blue, constantly twitching vines, obscuring its true form. It sways when it walks and loves to entangle any object that gets close. Even if its vines are destroyed, it can quickly regrow new ones."

Ethan took out a Poké Ball and threw it to the ground. To deal with this pure Grass-type Pokémon, he naturally had to use a type advantage to his benefit.

"Go, Charmander!"

Looking at Charmander, with the blazing flame on its tail, Erika gently shook her head. As a Gym Leader, because of her type specialty, she had no other Pokémon to counter Charmander. As long as the skill gap wasn't too large, the outcome of this battle was already predictable.

"Begin!"

At the blue-haired girl's command, both Pokémon attacked almost simultaneously.

"Tangela, use Stun Spore!"

"Charmander, use Ember!"

A cloud of glistening powder flew toward Charmander. The moment Ember was released and hit the powder, the flame surged, incinerating most of the spores! Was that some kind of chemical reaction? The fire continued to blaze towards Tangela. However, perhaps due to its Chlorophyll ability, which doubles its speed under full sunlight, Tangela managed to narrowly dodge the attack before the flames reached it.

Erika's plan was a good one. Knowing her type was at a disadvantage, she wanted to paralyze Charmander first before making her next move. Unfortunately, her plan had failed.

Ethan is in Celadon City, where he's learned about a major Team Rocket operation and received a warning from Handsome. He's now at the Celadon Gym, challenging Erika. He's also showing his tactical prowess, using a Fire-type Pokémon against her Grass-type. The battle has just begun, with Erika's Tangela barely dodging Charmander's Ember.

How will the battle against Erika's Grass-type Pokémon unfold? Will Ethan's Charmander prove too powerful, or will Erika's unique strategies give her the advantage she needs?
