Shiro Tamashii was dead.
Those who knew him in Lavender said otherwise, of course. He still walked the streets, still lived alone in the small house his parents had renovated behind the future daycare center, still took little Shinx to the market and tended the flowers in the garden. He breathed. He moved. But no one who saw him up close could deny: something was different.
His parents' death broke him, or so they said. No one survives a tragedy like that without losing a part of themselves.
The truth, however, was more literal.
Shiro Tamashii was dead. And someone else occupied his body now.
The new "Shiro" awoke one silent morning, lying in a bed he didn't recognize, in a room filled with the scent of incense and sadness. The first thing he saw was a diary open on the desk. The last written page trembled with freshly dried ink. It was a father's handwriting.
He tried to get up. It hurt. His body felt frail but functional. When he looked in the mirror, he knew instantly: this wasn't a dream, nor a hallucination. He, an ordinary boy, a fan of Pokémon, Kanto, Johto, games, anime, movies, everything, had died in his own world. And awakened there, in the body of a grieving boy named Shiro Tamashii.
It took him two days to grasp the basics. A few more to accept them. But it finally clicked when he read the entire diary. When he saw the Daycare documents. When he walked to the abandoned eco-park and saw the small Pokémon toys still set up under the setting sun.
Everything there was real. The Wigglytuffs. The missing Pokémon. The murdered parents. The city that wept in silence.
It was like falling into your favorite game… except no one asked you if you wanted to play.
He didn't know why he'd been sent. And honestly, he didn't waste much time trying to understand. The boy Shiro had died, yes.
Apparently, he couldn't cope with the pain, the loss of his parents was sudden, he had no friends or anyone to really comfort him.
So young Shiro Tamashii took some heavy medication and closed his eyes. It was truly tragic.
And he, somehow, was here now, in his place. Not to be him, but perhaps, to finish what he couldn't.
In the end, whether it was an accident of fate, a cosmic chance, or just a ridiculous mistake no longer mattered.
Shiro Tamashii, or what was left of him, now had a goal.
He would rebuild the Daycare.
He would find the lost Pokémon.
And if the world wanted to know why he was still there… he would let his actions answer.
How could he do all this? How could he be so confident in his own goals?
Well, the answer was simple.
He, as a transmigrator… came with an advantage.
That's right. He had a system.
From the moment he woke up in that world, notifications floated before him like small, translucent holograms. He instantly understood what it was; any webnovel reader would recognize it with their eyes closed. But he was too stunned by the situation to concentrate.
Now, days later, with a clearer mind and organized emotions, Shiro was sitting in his room, little Shinx lying on his lap, sleeping soundly.
The cub's breathing was soft, warm. For a moment, the sound brought a sense of comforting calm, as if the whole world had slowed down just for him to think.
Shiro took a deep breath. Then, he stared into space and thought with clear intent:
"Open system."
With a soft digital sound, an interface appeared before his eyes, translucent, slightly bluish, like an augmented reality HUD. White letters formed before his eyes, revealing what he already imagined.

Shiro's eyes widened.
"This... This is an entire Pokémon store."
It was too much. A fortune in Poké Balls. Medicine in quantities not even a Gym Leader would have in their pocket. And... a Master Ball? In the beginning?
In addition to a very useful special ability, a real jackpot.
He clicked "Collect Rewards" and watched the inventory counter begin to rise, with each item being properly stored.
"System... open inventory."
The inventory opened as a side menu, divided by categories: Balls, Medical Items, Rare Items. Everything was there, organized, ready to be brought up with a simple mental command.
Taking a deep breath, Shiro then selected the second notification.

This time, Shiro was paralyzed for a moment.
"A Gastly shiny...?"
It wasn't just rare. It was absurd. Shiny Pokémon were legends among ordinary trainers. And now he had one right at the beginning.
He tapped the pickup option. The inventory glowed faintly, and a new tab appeared:
"Linked Pokémon".
Shiro opened it.
There it was: Gastly, glowing deep purple, with bright eyes and a mysterious aura. The system allowed him to "call" the Pokémon from his inventory at any time.
"This changes everything…"
Shiro closed the interface for now. There was no need to spread his trump cards just yet. But now he knew: he wasn't alone in this world. He had a system. He had power. He had means.
And mainly…
There was a goal.
----
Shiro sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes wandering the bedroom wall, while little Shinx slept curled up at his feet. The sound of the wind outside mingled with his own thoughts, dense and orderly, like puzzle pieces slowly falling into place.
Over the past few days, amidst the grief, surprise, and adjustment, he had done something crucial: analyzed. And as a true Pokémon fan, and now a system-based transmigrator, he used this time not only to adapt to the new reality, but to understand. Study. Learn.
This world... was definitely not just a simple copy of the games, anime, or manga.
It was something new. An amalgam.
It wasn't as light as the games, nor as heroic as the anime, and certainly not as dark as some parts of the manga, but it contained fragments of all of them, fused into a rawer, more detailed, more vivid reality.
Shiro noticed, for example, that there was no mention of Ash Ketchum, or Red, or any child prodigy who had saved the world with a Pikachu or won the League at age 10. The world seemed to be in a pre-canonical era, something of a clean, but real, starting point.
And besides the classic regions, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar and Paldea, there were many more.
News about places like Fiore, Oblivia, Almia, Ferrum, Orre, all the spin-off regions, appeared regularly in news reports and articles. This solidified the idea that this world was truly a complete Pokémon universe, just one never fully depicted in any media.
Even the Viridian Power, that special gift mentioned only in the manga, was real there. There were rumors about trainers with mysterious gifts, connections to nature, and mental communication with Pokémon, nothing confirmed, but much discussed in more serious circles.
And then there was the concept that caught his attention the most:
The Potential of Pokémon.
It was a real measurement, accepted by creators, researchers, and even the League. Something not seen in the games or anime, but here, it was essential.
Each Pokémon was born with an Innate Potential, represented by a color. And the higher the potential, the faster and further it could grow.
The colors followed a scale:
🔴 Red – Minimum potential.
🟠 Orange – Low potential.
🟡 Yellow – Medium.
🟢 Green – Above average.
🔵 Blue – High.
🟣 Indigo – Extraordinary.
There were rumors of a potential beyond Indigo, but nothing confirmed. Just theories from forums, reports from former researchers, and mysterious blogs that disappeared days after posting something about the topic.
This potential affected everything: growth, move comprehension, evolution rate, Ability control, stamina... even the Pokémon's life force. Pokémon with low potential were often left behind, chosen by few Trainers. Those with high potential were even sought after by Gym Leaders, Elites, and Champions.
Therefore, the Potential Potion (Low Level) he received from the system was something completely absurd.
In the real world, enhancing a Pokémon's potential was practically impossible. It was reserved for extraordinary events, like the blessing of Legendary Pokémon, the use of extremely rare natural items, or experiments that were more myth than science. But there it was: a potion that could enhance the potential of red and orange Pokémon, and even have a chance at yellow ones.
"This definitely doesn't belong in this world."
Shiro thought, his eyes narrowing with a mixture of fascination and caution.
The system continued to surprise.
In addition to potential, there was also a level classification with real implications for the Pokémon's existence.
Unlike the simple logic of the games, the level here was divided by stages of maturity and power, and each class jump was not just a numerical increase: it was a real transformation in the Pokémon's constitution, behavior, and even aura.

With each level a Pokémon surpassed, it changed completely. It was as if it underwent a new baptism, as if its existence were reshaped to accommodate this new power. It wasn't just strength, it was an evolution of the soul, as some researchers described it.
"A level 29 Gastly isn't just weaker than a level 31. They're literally different."
Shiro smiled, almost laughing to himself with his hand on his forehead.
"This world is much denser than I thought…"
But if that world was complex, dangerous and deep... it was also full of opportunities.
With the system on his side, and such a vast world before him, Shiro had an unfair advantage. A chance to be reborn, and perhaps to honor not only his old life, but also the name of Shiro Tamashii's parents.
Shiro took a deep breath.
With a mental movement, he opened the system's inventory. The interface floated before his eyes like a translucent, bluish projection visible only to him. It was organized in a surprisingly intuitive way: there were tabs, filters, rarity tags, and even favorites. As if someone had designed it based on the best RPGs on Earth.
There it was.
Gastly (Shiny) — Luxury Ball
☑ Initial Affinity: High
☑ Level: 12
☑ Rating: Newbie
He tapped the [Remove from Inventory] option, and the Luxury Ball materialized in the palm of his hand with a soft, elegant glow.
Shiro twirled it between his fingers, still a little surprised. Such a beautiful Poké Ball… and with a Shiny Gastly inside. He stood up, walked to the center of the room, and without hesitation, pressed the center button.
With a soft click, the Poké Ball opened.
An ethereal purple swirl emerged from the center, followed by a trail of ghostly particles. The room darkened slightly for a second, as if the space had sensed the supernatural presence.
And then, he appeared.
Gastly.
But no ordinary Gastly.
Its gaseous body was shrouded in a dark blue-violet, glowing faintly like a cold flame. The Pokémon's red eyes fixed on Shiro, not with aggression, but with calm curiosity, as if it had known him for a long time.
"Gastly…"
Shiro muttered.
The Pokémon floated toward him, circling once before stopping directly in front of him. Its eyes lit up, and then… it smiled.
"You already like me, huh…"
Shiro smiled too, feeling an almost palpable connection.
"It must be the System."
Gastly responded with a slight, excited twirl.
At that moment, Shinx woke with a soft yawn, opening his eyes and pricking his ears. Noticing his new companion, the little feline stretched and approached, sniffing the air curiously.
Gastly, far from frightening him, lowered his height slightly and made a funny face. Shinx giggled, or as close as it got, his tail wagging happily. Within seconds, the two seemed to understand each other perfectly.
Shiro watched this with satisfaction.
"So… let's see how you guys really are, Scan."
The interface flashed. Two translucent windows opened side by side, displaying the full stats of both of his Pokémon.

Shiro slowly scanned the data, absorbing every detail. Gastly's blue potential was fantastic, a true gem in gas form. It wasn't unusual, as Shiny Pokémon usually had better potential.
And although Shinx only had yellow potential, he didn't mind, with the right potion, he could change it... and even without it, Shinx was already too important to him.
He closed the interface with a light gesture of his hand, and looked at the two Pokémon.
"Let's make history, together."
Gastly let out a deep laugh and floated around in circles. Shinx barked softly and nuzzled Shiro's leg.
Yes.
It was all just beginning.
