Chapter 4 - He's got skill alright

Leon's mother though noticed that he had been keeping his distance from them and everytime he looks at her it's lije his looking through them and nit at them and that didn't seat well with her, but she decided that she'll wait until Leon is ready to talk about it and not bother him since she had just got her baby back and was scared to lose him due to being too pushy.

The two days went by real quick and Leon continued with his Dailey activities and training as he got ready for his meeting with Mike. The two days flew by in a blur of training and preparation for Leon. As the day of his meeting with Mike approached, he could feel a mix of excitement and nerves building up inside him.

Meanwhile, Mmathapelo continued to keep a watchful eye on Leon, noticing that he seemed distant and preoccupied. She longed to talk to him, to understand what was going on in his mind, but she held back, not wanting to push him too hard. As the morning of the meeting arrived, Leon was up early, his focus solely on the task at hand. He went through his routine, his movements precise and calculated. Jake watched him with a mixture of pride and anticipation, knowing that this meeting could be a turning point in Leon's career.

"Are you ready, son?" Jake asked, his voice filled with encouragement.

Leon nodded, his eyes locked on the task ahead. "I'm ready, Dad," he said, his voice firm and resolute. Together, they headed out to meet Mike, the air thick with anticipation and expectation...As they arrived at the training field, Mike was already there, watching them with a keen eye. He nodded at Jake, his expression serious, before turning his attention to Leon.

"So, Leon, I've heard a lot about your...miraculous recovery," Mike said, his tone neutral. "Let's see what you're working with."

Leon nodded, his eyes locked on Mike's. "Let's do this," he said, his voice confident.

With that, Leon began to show off his skills, his movements fluid and precise. Mike watched intently, his expression unreadable. As Leon finished his drills, Mike nodded thoughtfully. "Not bad," he said. "Not bad at all."

Jake and Leon exchanged a look, both of them wondering what Mike was thinking. Was he impressed? Was he convinced? Mike's expression gave nothing away, but his next words sent a surge of hope through Leon's chest. "I think we might have a future for you in the sport after all, Leon," he said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

Mike's smile grew wider as he spoke. " Honestly, when you said he was back in top shape i thought you were kidding, but after seeing him play like that i can only think of one thing...I hink you'd make a great addition to my agency, I'd like to sign you as my client, Leon.

Jake's expression turned cold, his eyes narrowing. "You can't sign Leon as your client, Mike. I'drather die than leave my son in your hands."

Mike chuckled, his tone smooth. "Of course, if thats the case...how about i hire you to work for me, huh jake? That way you can manage him all you want. Plus i think you would be a great asset to my agency."

Jake's response was icy. "You mean my agency, the one you stole under my nose all those years back?" he said, his voice dripping with venom. The air between them grew tense, the past conflicts between Jake and Mike simmering just below the surface. Mike's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered, his tone smooth. "Ah, old wounds, Jake. Let's not dwell on the past. Let's focus on the future...and Leon's career."

Jake's face twisted in disgust. "Contacting you was a mistake, Mike. Let's get out of here, Leon," he said, his voice firm. As they walked away, Leon looked up at Jake, curiosity etched on his face. "Dad, what happened between you and Mike? And what's the talk about an agency?"

Jake's expression softened, and he took a deep breath before launching into a story. "You know how the founders of Facebook? Well, Mike and I started our talent agency in a similar way. We were young, ambitious, and passionate about sports."

"We met in college, and our shared love of sports brought us together. We built the agency from scratch, working tirelessly to find and nurture talent. I was the one who came up with the business plan, and Mike was the one who brought in the clients. We were a great team, and the agency flourished."

"But over time, Mike's priorities shifted. He became more interested in the fame and fortune that came with running a successful agency than in the actual work. He started making deals behind my back, taking credit for my ideas, and slowly but surely, he pushed me out of the agency I founded."

"It all came to a head when Mike presented a proposal to our investors, claiming it was his idea. I was furious, and the investors saw right through him. But by then, the damage was done. Mike had already secretly formed his own company, and he used the knowledge and connections we made together to poach our clients and staff."

"I was left with nothing, Leon. No agency, no clients, and no trust. Mike stole everything from me, and I've been rebuilding ever since."

Leon's eyes widened in shock. "That's why you two don't get along," he said, piecing together the story.

Jake's expression turned wistful as he continued. "Yeah and Ever since then, I've worked with small talents for bottom-tier leagues, but I've never gotten my big breakthrough. And not to sound like a complete ass, but I'd bet everything on you to help me recover as a proper agent. But when you got that injury...that's when I gave up completely on the world of soccer."

Leon's eyes dropped, guilt washing over him. He remembered all the times he'd lashed out at his father, blaming him for the injury. "If you hadn't made me join Man United and train like crazy, I wouldn't have gotten hurt," he'd said.

But now, looking at his father's worn face, Leon felt a surge of determination. He took a moment, collecting his thoughts before speaking. "Don't worry, Dad. This time around, I'll achieve both our dreams. I promise."

Jake's eyes locked onto Leon's, a spark of hope igniting within them. He smiled, a small, weary smile. "I believe you, son. I believe in you."

The drive home was filled with a newfound sense of purpose, father and son united in their quest for success. As they drove home, Leon couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for his dad's resilience and determination.
