After grabbing the Corpo he punched in the coordinates to Biotechnica HQ before we sped off to Night City.
We didn't talk on the way there, as there wasn't really anything to say, I didn't really care about Corpo information even if it would be worth something to sell off to other Corps so as we were making our way their the Corpo Netrunner used his neural link to make a holo call to his superiors probably.
Making phone calls in Cyberpunk doesn't require you to talk unless you want to, instead using your thoughts to be a an actual voice for the other person to hear as a result, I only knew he was calling someone was the mini LED light ring on the side of his head along with his eyes began to glow, the telltale signs of someone making a phone call to others.
By the time we arrived the blocked gate to the private parking lot of Biotechnica opened to us automatically before I drove on in and parked by an entrance to Biotechnica as a few guards with guns we're covering the door.
He then looked at me, "Alright you helped me get back, so I'll keep my end of the deal, I know a guy in Heywood who owes me a favor that I'll cash in, go here and tell him that Gustav sent you, he'll know it's you." He said before getting out of the car as his eyes glowed as a gps popped up on my hud giving me directions to the apartment complex.
"Thanks, oh and try not to get yourself killed Gustav." I said as he just shook his head and left before the passenger door slid close.
I revved the engine before doing a burnout as I sped out of the parking lot to where I was set to go.
It didn't take more than a few minutes of going through traffic before arriving where it was located, a apartment building located within the Glen though right near the border of Vista Del Rey, which was considered a safe area just barely as a result.
"A Mega Building Huh? Well better than nothing." I muttered as I came across Mega Building 07 one of the 12 Mega Buildings spread out across Night City.
Depending on whether your a lower floor, middle floor or upper floor residence a mega building could be slightly better than being homeless in the slums, all the way up to being relatively decent apartments so long as you are an upper floor resident of the Mega Building.
And since this was a Mega Building on the edge between the Glen and Vista Del Rey the area was just barely decent to live in but plenty Valentino gang members hung around the area since this was the edge to Vista Del Rey and was somewhat like a Warzone going on between the Valentino gang and the 6th Street gang as a result.
But since this is still the Glen, this area has a strong level of protection by Valentinos as a result, and luckily Valentinos usually don't attack random people unless shit happens since most their money comes from the drug trade along with the sale of customized cars at that.
And though it was late at night and they saw me get out of my car, they left me alone as I went inside before seeing a map of the Mega Building and headed up to the 10th floor where the Building Managers office is at.
So I hopped in the elevator that was playing various ads on the walls for various things I could give less than two shots about, eating real meat, sex upgrades, latest in cyberware, that sort of shit, but soon enough I made it up to the tenth floor.
It didn't look like a complete dump like the first floor with graffiti and garbage everywhere, but there were trash piles here and there, some people standing around smoking, that sort of thing as I walked on by.
I got the side eye from the few people from my looks, but Borgs aren't to terribly uncommon in Night City so they left me be as I arrived at the Managers office, which would be closed at this time but the lights were on so I went on in.
It looked like your regular standard office you'd see anywhere, blank walls, brown yellow carpet and desk with a man behind it, portly body shape, real short black hair with a clear Latino descent from his looks alone.
He looked away from his computer and looked up at me, "So your the gonk who saved Gustav huh? Well I don't have much to really pay back that bastard, but getting you a place to stay here will wipe the small debt I owe him clean far be it from me." He said before reaching into his desk, rummaging around before tossing what appeared to be a card.
"Room 11002, one floor above this one and considered the beginning of the middle floors here so it's at least decent, well besides the last guy who lived there who blew his brains out, was a real mess to get cleaned up, and it's the only reason I'm handing it off to you for a month, but next month your going to have to start paying rent." He said while I took the card for myself.
I didn't really need to hear that but whatever, "And what's the monthly rent?"
"Usually it be 10k a month, but I'll drop it to 7500 for the first year your here before bumping the rates up, after all your broke as shit right now aren't you?" He said to which I just shrugged at hearing that as I took the card.
"Don't worry Choom, I'll probably stay here for awhile, but hey at least merc work is profitable so creds won't be hard to come across, anyway later old man." I say as I turn while waving him off as I head out of the office while the old guy just shakes his head before smoking.
"Well he should be fine, probably, at least I don't owe him anything anymore." The old manager says to himself as he smokes alone in his office.
Meanwhile I go up the elevator to the 11th floor and head on towards my new apartment as I hold up the keycard to the door as it slides open and lets me in.
It was a average studio apartment, basically everything was all in one room such as the bed, living room, kitchen area, a desk with a PC on top, and an Armory something that every apartment has, though most use the Armory for clothes rather than for holding all their weapons as not everyone is a gangster or a merc after all.
"This place will do for now, just got to get enough Eddies to buy my own personal place for myself, or maybe steal some abandoned building in Pacifica for myself." I thought as I sat down on my bed and laid down.
I had no plans to set this place as my Base of Operations, I need a place that is permanently mine instead of something rented to me that the Manager can get into if they want whenever they feel like it.
But that's for worrying about later, first of all I need to make a name for myself as a merc, get some connections and find myself my own personal place that is for me and me alone.
But it was late so it was best I went to bed, and so ended my first real day here in the world of Cyberpunk.
