Kael closed his eyes, his breath slow and steady.
This was the moment every player experienced upon first login—the System would read his essence and assign an Innate Talent. It could be anything: enhanced reflexes, greater mana reserves, heightened senses, or even passive regeneration. The fortunate received rare talents. A select few obtained Unique ones.
In the previous timeline, only three players had ever been granted EX-ranked talents. Kael didn't expect much. This part was random, beyond even his future knowledge.
Golden light swelled around him. A luminous ring materialized beneath his feet, intricate symbols burning into its surface—one layer, then another, then a third.
And then—
Everything stopped.
The sound vanished. The light froze mid-flare. The system panels flickered and died. Time itself seemed to halt.
Only Kael remained unaffected, his eyes widening in shock.
"What the hell…?"
Then, a voice—deep, metallic, and vast—resounded in his mind like a god speaking from beyond the stars.

The black key in Kael's hand shattered, its fragments exploding upward in a storm of radiant silver, defying gravity as they spiraled into the air.
