With Rein's forgiveness, or rather perspective since he hadn't felt aggrieved, earned, I headed to their home first to make sure the girls were okay.
"Girls, Rein will be back shortly, get dinner ready and don't forget to apologise Fala."
"I won't, see you at training."
With that final step finished, I headed back to Eve, who was laying in a heap.
"Three... Toys... Each... Too... Much... Can't... Keep... Doing... This..."
I picked her up and carried her to the bath, placing her in as I sat behind her with only beneath my knees soaking.
"Children, I hope you appreciate your mother's efforts."
She chuckled and rubbed her belly. "They do. They also love you for taking care of me."
"I wish I could do more, I'll try something else next time they ask okay?"
"Please do... Though I'm glad. Most men plant the seed and their job is mostly done, I was worried it might feel underwhelming for you. Having to be involved in the process must make you feel more needed than most expecting fathers."
"No, I would have felt needed regardless. The kids are half me, they were bound to wreak havoc one way or another. Come on now, I'll tie your hair up then we can give each other a wing massage."
"No, no hair tying, my hair is aching if that's even possible. Go get the place ready and lay down, I want to massage you first."
After we were relaxed, we decided to go see Bell.
"Hello..."
"You seem down Bell, is this because of Constivita?"
"You heard? Sorry for not telling you, I wanted to work on my feelings a bit."
We both gave her a cuddle, then we extended the offer for her to join our family permanently.
"I don't know, I don't want you to be at odds with him because of me."
"I think we're safe, my sisters are his worst nightmares, chaos and the earth itself."
"Bell, you deserve a proper home. I already told you I'd fight him for you, if he wants to skip the fight and give you up. We would be honoured to have you, it feels weird only having one daughter around anyway."
"But you have more on the way! You should be focusing on them."
"Don't worry Bell, it just means they'll have another big sister to look up to."
"Why do you want me though? Even my own creator didn't"
"Okay, I'm telling Kuronovus to hit him. Bell come with me."
Without another word I picked her up, took Eve's hand then we headed to the house. She tried asking what we were doing as we climbed the stairs towards the upper house, but I was too busy ranting to myself.
"GYARAN!" Everyone froze as I reached the top step and shouted. "Use this." I threw a memory orb to him which he was still too startled to catch.
After it hit him in the face and rolled to the floor, he scurried to pick it up, then went into the usual trance for a second and then the air turned thick for a moment.
When the tension cleared a moment later, Byurik stood hurriedly and then came and apologised on his knees with his head to floor on Constivita's behalf.
"In his words.
I am deeply sorry for abandoning you child, I hadn't realised my scale chipped, but my oblivious ignorance is no excuse for not apologising sooner.
The only reason I told you to stay there is because Adam and Eve are good people who could offer you a far more suitable sanctuary than I could. Please stay, grow strong and when you are ready I will welcome you here to air your rightful grievances to me personally where upon I will apologise to you again in person.
End of message." Byurik stood after that, slightly terrified at how quickly Kuronovus had apparently reacted to whatever message I gave.
"Bell, how was that?"
"I wish he had said that bef-"
"Tell Kuronovus to hit him again, then tell her to make sure he is taking care of those chipped scales properly."
Byurik grunted, a second later, then Gyaran laughed saying something about her asking for praise, which I gave.
"Thank you Adam and Eve... Oh and you too Gyaran and Kuronovus, sorry Byurik I didn't think Adam would take action then and there."
"Don't worry, I did when I told him. Truth is, our Origin is the worst at keeping track of his young, even I was ignored until Kuronovus caught wind of my proximity. He needed a hiding about it, he was right to leave you with Adam and Eve. At least they love their children, you saw how he is with them. Just don't expect Adam to remember birthdays."
"Shit! Guys, seriously, I don't know the calendar of this world. I knew I was forgetting to ask something."
The others stared at me blankly then groaned in unison.
"Oh yeah, by the way I'm pregnant, triplets... I forgot to tell you."
Everyone groaned again and whined about it being contagious after all.
"Okay, anyway, let's get this over with. How much about our era's time keeping do yo know?"
"Well, twenty-four hours a da-"
Everyone groaned again, several started banging their heads against the table. I sighed with exasperation, apparently the world had changed more than I knew for this era. There had always been twenty-four hours a day and three-hundred and sixty-five fays a year.
"You aren't completely wrong, it was only about two-thousand years ago the world became how we know it after some massive magical event across the farwater." Halsan started.
"Yeah, Kuronovus said it was one of the mortal races trying to break into their space, failed miserably. On top of that, they mangle everything and pissed off the gods apparently, one came and kept the world going but didn't change it back so it could be a reminder." Gyaran continued.
"Then we all forgot the details anyway. Hahahaha, ahh, good thing we have divines running around all over the place these days."
Eve and I were not amused, it was bad enough we were adopting children and giving the unwanted a home as was.
"Anyway, there are sixty seconds a minute, sixty minutes an hour, thirty hours in a day now, seven days a week, five weeks a month, fifteen months a year."
"Ugh! Sorry, that's a lot, can you guys bear with me." I then started creating a new watch, suddenly realising why my time piece was always failing when it never had before. "Right okay, just run through that as I nod."
I changed my watch into the core elements, then used them to reconstruct it, but altered the digital programming as I built it. I then affixed it to my wrist now that it should actually work properly.
"Now, what time is it currently Halsan, then day, month and year in that order."
"Eight thirty come night, the twentieth day, of the fourteenth month and the year would be two-thousand as we said earlier, we weren't estimating."
I laughed with hysteria at his words. "Born in the year two-thousand and bringing children into the world in two-thousand and one."
As the joke clicked into place for everyone who had seen my memories the house erupted into laughter, leaving a few blank faces in the dark.
"When Adam was born, a thousand eras ago, he was born in the year two-thousand. By our calendar he was born this year." Byurik explained to Gyaran and Jekyll, as well as the young lad I found at the bar.
"Sorry everyone, anyway, now my ignorance has turned to enlightenment, my wrath toward a certain dragon actioned and our children have been announced. I have a few more items to discuss since I'm here, while I do that, please fill out this calendar with everything you think I should know, by body clock has been useless since I got here and at least I know why now."
Everyone then gathered round and put their heads together to fill it out with birthdays, events they thought I might like, everything, whilst I spoke.
"First things first, you young man, I apologise for inviting you to stay then going into seclusion from humanity, that was wrong. When I am done, please introduce yourself.
Next, please make sure Fala doesn't work more than three days a week, I will allow emergencies and mid-wife care, but please make sure she doesn't overdo it, you know my standards and I'll leave the actual decisions up to you guys.
What else? Ah! Valo will be doing morning training with the ladies from now on and I guess you know we're allied with the dwarves already...
Finally, I know none of you waste times making up your minds. Gyaran for the group, yay or nay?"
"Yay!" They answered in unison.
"On the matter of the dwarves, we need to talk about them."
