Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11

Back at the car, Daisy waited for Lucy to return, trying to manage the pain in her ankle. Resting her head on the back of the seat, she tried to catch some sleep.

After several minutes, Lucy finally came back. She spotted Daisy with her eyes closed, seemingly asleep until Daisy suddenly spoke.

"Lucy… I think I'll take you up on your earlier offer. I'll be heading home for the day."

Once home, Daisy immediately went to bed, hoping a few hours of rest would help. The fall had really gotten to her.

When she finally woke up later that night, she felt a little more refreshed. After making herself dinner, she turned to her designs. Now that she had collaborated with Desmond's company, she needed to have work in stock.

Opening her email, she was surprised to already see a list of demands.

"Wow… just signed the contract and they're already demanding so much," she muttered. Then she smirked bitterly. "Well, I'm not surprised after all, it's that jerk face running the company. Wouldn't be shocked if he did this on purpose."

Thinking about how he had let her fall earlier filled her with renewed irritation. Shoving him out of her thoughts, she focused entirely on her work. Her hands moved swiftly, like she was made for this.

Design had always been something she loved. But her parents had wanted her to be a doctor, go to business school, then join their company.

Over time, between pressure and self-blame, she had lost her touch.

There had been days filled with pain, doubt, and discouragement but with practice, she improved. She went to design school, honed her skills, and eventually started her own company.

Now, she had partnered with her first big brand. Even if it was Mr. Jerk Face, she couldn't deny she was proud. She had fought for this. And even a pile of work felt like fun when she was fully immersed in it.

After working for a while, she finally retired for the night, knowing tomorrow would be busy.

Meanwhile, at Desmond's residence, he was in his study, buried in paperwork.

He hadn't been sleeping well lately in fact, the night he spent at the hospital had been the first time he'd slept peacefully in a while. He suspected it was exhaustion from all the chaos with that petty queen.

Thinking of her, his mind drifted to what had happened earlier that day. But before he could linger on the thought, he pushed it away and returned to his work.

After some time, he picked up his phone and called his assistant.

After three rings, Richard answered, his voice groggy from being woken up. "Boss, you called?"

"I need you to set up a meeting with Miss Daisy tomorrow during lunchtime. Tell her it's important," Desmond said flatly.

Richard blinked at the request, surprised and a little irritated. The boss could have easily told him this in the morning, but he still replied, "Yes, sir."

Before he could ask if there was anything else, the call ended. Richard stared at his phone in disbelief. So he really called just for that?

After ending the call, Desmond decided to retire for the day but first, he opted for a hot shower, hoping it would help him sleep.

Taking his towel, he headed to the bathroom, soaking in the steam for a while before stepping under the water.

When he emerged, he went to the mirror, towel drying his hair. Just as he was about to head to bed, a file on his desk caught his eye.

He walked over, opened it, and realized it was one of the submissions from Daisy's company. Flipping through the pages, his gaze landed on her name alongside her phone number.

For a moment, he debated. Then he decided to take her number. After all, they'll' be working together.

The question now was what should he save it as? He didn't want to just put "Daisy."

After a few seconds of thought, he typed in "Petty Head."

It didn't feel right.

So he changed it to "Petty Queen."

Perfect.

To him she wasn't just petty she was the queen of them all, "At least from all the people he knows she's definitely the pettiest".

Smirking at the name on his screen, he finally put his phone down and lay in bed.

To his surprise, he drifted off quicker than expected and, oddly, he felt better.
