Chapter 15 - Exploring the first room

Bloodless is still a level 1 sword. It is powerful for what it is in terms of magic. Just by holding it I have enough mana to cast one time of any of my spells, at least. And then comes the increased magical damage. It is a powerful tool.

But I am naked, only in my underwear, and thrown into an unknown dungeon that was too high for my current stats.

And even if I get lucky and run into an enemy I can kill, I cannot gain XP on any skill or stat because of that curse.

But I don't need to kill, actually.

My only hope is my sword.

I get my hands on the job. I have to see what I can find in this room.

I move and search around a couple of tables in the room...

[You found a mossy scroll!

You found an ancient book!]

The scroll could be anything. The book, I am sure, is a spellbook. They go directly to my inventory.

They are not identified, and my Appraisal skill was sent to level 1. It works passively, but at low levels, although it can ID scrolls and books, it could take a while. It is better to keep them in my inventory.

Exploring the room some more... I found mushrooms! They are growing on a broken part of the wall. I cut them with Bloodless and see what I can find.

[Hey! I am not a kitchen knife!]

What the...

"What was that?" I ask.

No response.

[You got Brown Mushrooms x2!

You got Spotted Mushroom!]

[Brown Mushroom

Edible

+2 levels of Magic experience

+1 level of Magic potential]

[Spotted Mushroom

Edible

+1 level of Magic experience

+3 levels of Magic potential

+1 level of Charisma potential

Hallucinogenic]

In the game, I would risk the spotted mushroom without preparing it first. The potential was worth it.

Here... I prefer to avoid it. Not worth it, and I don't want to know how it feels in real life.

I eat the brown mushrooms.

The taste was bland... But it helped with my hunger a tiny bit.

[XP cannot be gained because of a curse!

Your magic potential increased slightly!

Bloodless gained +150 Magic XP!

DING! Bloodless gained a level!

Now it has an Ego Level 2!

Because of the experience gained, it obtains [Improves Magic 5]!

You feel magic flow through you!!]

Yes! It was about to level up! I have no way of telling how much XP my stats or Bloodless have, or how close it is to level up. I need the mod that shows it!

[Magic: 1->6]

I increased my magic stat by 6 times only by eating a couple of mushrooms!

[MP: 100 -> 1200]

As my stats increase, so do my reserves. So, in total, now I have 3300 MP!

The enchantment it gets is chosen at random from a series of possibilities. These possibilities depend on where the XP came from. As I mostly fight with magic and the mushroom gave some, it was more probably that it got something related

It is possible to reroll it with resources and get a better enhancement, and with the chance of a better roll. For the moment, what I got is perfect.

I should be able to cast spells more reliably now. Sadly, I am not going to be regenerating magic too fast. That is another skill.

But the good news is that no matter if I cannot gain levels. As long as I have Bloodless with me, it can level up and gain points for me.

[Sure. Just stop touching me in weird ways!]

Again... An odd message.

...is that Bloodless speaking to me?

"Hey... Are you listening?"

No answer.

I sigh and decide to continue my exploration.

The next thing I found behind a rock was a shirt and a wand.

[You found a white shirt (?)!

You found Scarlet Wand!]

The wand is the same as the scroll and book. I don't know what it does until it gets identified. I can try to use them, but I run the risk that they do something that I don't want or that could put me at risk. The thief I fought summoned a Young Dragon for making that mistake and ended up becoming its food.

So I will keep them.

The shirt, however, puts me in a conundrum.

I can just put it on, but the "(?)" beside the name makes me worry. That means it is a Magic rank item. It will have basic enchantments, and in a dungeon of this level, it can mean good ones, and it can be made of a good material.

But I also run the risk that it is cursed. And to do something about it, I will have to get a wand or scroll of uncurse or get to a temple where I can pay so they remove the curse.

Cursed items are annoying. You cannot remove them once equipped, and they can have some nasty effects that are detrimental to you, like reducing stats, skills, or outright opening the doors to heaven for you.

It is sitting in my inventory.

"Fuck it!"

I equip the shirt...

Then I immediately attempt to remove it.

[You are now wearing White Shirt (?)!

You removed White Shirt (?)!]

Not cursed! Perfect!

I put it back on. At least I am wearing something now. Whatever the properties of the item, they are already taking effect, but I cannot know them until I pay enough attention to what they are doing to me or I ID it.

My appraisal skill, sadly, cannot ID it. It needs to be level 15 to appraise Magic rank items. Scrolls and wands are magic, but here I am talking about the rank or rarity. Those two are considered normal tier, so it can be IDed with just level 1.

...

I just noticed... A girl wearing a shirt with no pants.

I look like a girl from an ecchi.

I have several conflicting emotions about this! I am thankful no one is watching me. That would be embarrassing. But I cannot deny I don't hate looking like that...

"Shirt and no pants... Is there a mirror around her?"

[You pervert!]

"Okay, tell me what is going on! Who are you?!"

But then, I hear a door open. On the other side of the room was an exit guarded by a wooden door.

[Your presence called the attention of a Mechanical Guardian (Lv 20)]

From the dark corridor comes into view a machine like creature, holding two swords. Its movements are methodical and clockwork like, and it stops the moment it sees me.

Now, I have to think.
