She is gone, thought Arthur.
{2 hour left} The system pinged.
What? Arthur growled. He had no Idea times passed quickly.
He had to find the purpose.
"Hey boy, if you finished eating can you quit obstructing, and let me get more customers" the bread seller shouted at Arthur.
Arthur regained his posture.
He clutched the bread to his chest, bowed to the man.
"I am sorry" Arthur said and walked away quickly from the wooden shop.
He took a bite from the bread, It was good.
What do they use to make bread here?.
Just a bite had satisfied his hunger.
But he didn't mind, he continued eating, taking each bite like it meant everything to him.
Then until they were none.
Ah. He cursed. He didn't like the idea of the bread finishing early.
For now this bread is the thing he had liked in this world after, Alice.
"Are you also signing up for your purpose?"said a gruff voice.
Arthur looked up at a tall man, dressed in cloack rag, his nails long and old, his teeth had a mixture of green and yellow, making it hard for Arthur to take a second look.
He looked….
Arthur couldn't describe the word.
Behind him were people who dressed up like him. And women who carried children and kids around Arthur ages followed them, carrying some wrapped rag with them.
They dragged themselves forward, tired, hungry and beating by the sun.
They looked like their days were over.
A noble carriage drove past them, a woman poked her head out of the carriage and spat at them.
"Crazy people look where you walk" she sneered as her carriage drive away into the distance.
"Are you perhaps looking for your purpose young one?" The old man asked again.
Arthur still couldn't get it. How did he know what he was looking for?.
"Yes" Arthur said. The old grabbed his hand.
"Then you should follow us, this way"
He grabbed Arthur along with them.
With his one leg, Arthur tried to keep up with the line of people.
He kept glancing at the women's, and kids and childrens.
Where are they all going? Even in this condition.
The women's, some of them even leapt as they walked, while some of them looked worn out, but still walked on.
The children they carried aren't even well clothed.
They walked past three street. Then they stopped in front of a tall old church. It building stretched a few floor up. Almost matching the height of the palace in the distance, but no, it only covered a few miles up.
The door stood open, guarded by knight.
The man guarded Arthur inside the church.
Inside, knight stood at either side, a big table at the far right, a knight sat down.
Like he was some clerk or something.
A red light obstruct Arthur view.
Arthur raised his hand, covering his eyes. And so was the people behind him.
A red portal appeared in front of the alter.
Releasing chilling cold inside the church, the glow made it impossible for Arthur to look at it until it dim back, dulling a little.
Arthur flinched.
What is that doing here?.
Arthur thought loudly.
What is it doing here?.
The man stepped forward. "This is the portal to our purpose kid"
Portal to purpose..
This wasn't what the system said, actually it didn't give any instructions but that doesn't mean he had to enter a portal to fulfill a purpose.
The last time he remembered, a beast and came out of the portal and killed him.
So what is the purpose in that?.
Then something even shocked him more, a few knights came out of the portal like it was some sorth of door or leisure room.
Not even worried, like it was okey, like normal.
Even the people behind him didn't flinch, it was normal to them also. Arthur took a step back.
Scared that a beast might come out of the portal.
One of the knight that had came out of the portal stepped in front of them.
Raised his hands, "Okey goulers, thank you all for adjourning here today. The hole seventeen mission is already in progress. As promised you would be compensated dearly, as you all know the protocol, fill in your life form and your families names"
Gouler?.
It now rested in Arthur brain, so they are gouler.
He knew that word, he can't misheard it.
But that didn't stop the kid and the old man stepping forward towards the table where the knight sat down, and start taking their names. They stick their finger into a red plate, summoned by the knight magic and stamped it on the paper.
What is the meaning of that, all of the people went forward and signed except for Arthur who only glared at them.
Is that the mining team they would be assigned to?.
Arthur waited and watched as the old man finished filling his form.
Without a regret look the man stepped into the portal.
Arthur eyes widened, his brow's twitched.
he rubbed his eyes like he was seeing things but he wasn't, he could still see the man clothes faded as the portal light engulfed him.
What just happened to the man?.
Another gouler finished filling the form and entered the portal.
The knights that had spoken to them nodded.
Even the woman's entered with their kids.
And the kids the same age with Arthur also entered.
So this is what Merlin means.
Humans?.
So this is what he is going to end up doing if he is a gouler.
This is the life of a gouler.
If It he hadn't been for the system, he would also be a gouler and would be used as bait in the portal.
Why are they doing this?, they could die there.
Razel words rang in his ears, goulers live a pitiful life.
They are worst.
They are treated like trash. That explains why they had been Rediculed on the way here.
A tear trickled down Arthur face, as he watched them enter the portal, he was sure he knew probably a beast await them.
Like the one that attacked Arthur, they may be many of them in there.
"And what are standing there for? Aren't you signing up?" The knight that had announced a while ago walked up to Arthur.
Arthur turned to look at him, his body boiling.
"I am Xin" the Knight said forcing a fake smile.
"I am not a gouler" Arthur said sharply.
Xin looked at Arthur like he is insane.
"You aren't a gouler?"
Arthur nodded.
"Then what are you doing here?"
Arthur looked at xin, he can't just say he was looking for a purpose when the old man dragged him away telling him this is his purpose.
"I am just sightseeing" Arthur lied.
Xin eyed him for a minute. "I don't believe you, well since you are here, you either sign it get thrown into it forcefully."
He pointed to the portal.
Arthur heart skipped.
Xin frowned at him. Making his threat real.
Arthur looked around he couldn't run, his leg, couldn't carry him far if he wanted to….
Maybe this was the system purpose quest. Thought Arthur, the system planned to punish him the hard way.
It is a punishment after all.
He took the pen and was about to write
when a gruff voice called.
"Hey Arthur, son I have been looking for you"
