Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 – Enrollment

Chapter 15 – Enrollment

"Come, child, release your Martial Soul and Soul Ring."

The speaker was Li Yun, a steward of the Spirit Hall and a powerful Spirit Ancestor–level soul master(40-50).

He was mainly responsible for advancement appraisals, but at this moment, Li Yun was feeling somewhat nervous—because standing behind Quan Yi was a soul master stronger than himself.

Standing in the center of the room, Quan Yi released his Martial Soul and Soul Ring.

A pair of exquisitely crafted gauntlets appeared on his hands, while a yellow soul ring floated beneath his feet, pulsing gently with energy.

Li Yun couldn't help but be captivated by the sight. The elegant design of the gauntlets looked more like a piece of art than a Martial Soul.

But he didn't forget his duty. After examining the Martial Soul and Soul Ring, it was time to test the soul power. He picked up a crystal ball beside him and walked over to Quan Yi.

"Very good. Place your hand on the crystal ball."

Without hesitation, Quan Yi placed his hand on the crystal, and a brilliant yellow light instantly lit up from within. The color was strikingly bright.

"This is... this is Level 15 soul power!" Li Yun's eyes widened—this was the first time he had seen something like this in all his years. Most kids who came for advancement appraisal were usually only around Level 11.

Level 15—this was truly unprecedented for him. Li Yun quickly asked, "How many years was the soul ring you absorbed?"

Quan Yi remained calm and replied casually, "It came from a 400+ year-old Exploding Rhinobeast. I absorbed it four months ago."

He had already tested his soul power back at home. The five-hundred-year soul ring brought an astonishing leap in level. The first test was done the day after returning home, and his soul power had already surpassed Level 14.

After three weeks of cultivation, he unexpectedly broke through Level 15. But Quan Yi wasn't flustered. A 400-year soul ring was already considered top-tier for a first ring, and one from an Exploding Rhinobeast was especially rare—reaching Level 15 wasn't entirely unthinkable.

Moreover, he had absorbed it four months earlier, which made the growth seem more gradual and thus less suspicious. Although impressive, it still fell within the range of accepted norms.

As expected, after hearing Quan Yi's explanation, Li Yun nodded in understanding.

"I see. Alright, your advancement appraisal is complete. Please wait here for a moment. I'll go get your Spirit Master's Handbook. With it, you'll be able to collect a monthly stipend."

After saying this, Li Yun left the room. As he walked out, he glanced briefly at Su Ling'er, inwardly thinking, As expected of someone from a noble clan.

Li Yun himself came from a commoner background. His first soul ring was only a ten-year white ring. He couldn't help but feel a bit envious.

Hearing about the stipend made Quan Yi excited—this would be his first personal income.

The Spirit Hall worked efficiently. Before long, Li Yun returned holding an iron-bound handbook.

"Here. Make sure to keep it safe." He handed the handbook to Quan Yi and warned him to take it seriously.

"Thank you. I will." Quan Yi accepted it with both hands. This Spirit Master's Handbook was effectively his identity card.

It recorded his basic info: name, gender, ID number, etc. There were several blank fields, but the first row had already been engraved with the year Douluo Calendar 2632—his official advancement date.

This handbook would accompany him for a long time, at least until he surpassed Level 40. Quan Yi carefully put it away and left the Spirit Hall with Su Ling'er.

"Let's go. It's time to enroll."

Quan Yi felt a bit nervous. In this world, a primary soul master academy was equivalent to a university in his previous life—far from home, living in dorms—it was everything he had dreamed of.

In his past life, Quan Yi had been a top student. Based on his grades, he could have attended an excellent school. For any senior high student, university life was a dream.

The Quan family's carriage was heading outside the city. He had expected the number of pedestrians to thin out, but instead, it only increased.

Quan Yi noticed many children with their parents—likely students enrolling for the new semester.

The academy was just outside the city. The first thing that came into view was a tall iron gate, in front of which people had already lined up.

These queues were clearly made up of new students and their parents. Returning students could go in directly.

Near the gate, staff members were recording the information of arrivals.

Quan Yi and Su Ling'er joined the line.

"Xiao Yi, parents aren't allowed into the academy. After check-in, you'll have to go in by yourself. You've always been an independent child—I just hope you'll take care of your health."

Su Ling'er wasn't worried about anything except her son's safety and well-being.

"Don't worry, Mother." Quan Yi genuinely enjoyed his parents' care, and warmth filled his heart.

Soon it was his turn. The staff didn't waste words and asked for proof of Martial Soul awakening.

Quan Yi handed over the handbook he had just received. The staff member was visibly surprised. Possessing a handbook meant the student had already passed their advancement appraisal. This indicated an innate soul power of at least Level 8—someone talented enough to absorb a ring before entering school.

The staff member quickly took the handbook and studied its contents. A smile formed on his face.

"A genius—a real genius! Welcome, Student Quan Yi. Here is your dorm key and the academy handbook."

He handed over a numbered key and a thick booklet to Quan Yi.

Taking both items, Quan Yi knew it was time to say goodbye.

"Mother, I'm going in. Please take care of yourself and Father. I'll write letters often." He hugged Su Ling'er tightly, reluctant to part.

Su Ling'er fought to steady her voice. "Go, Xiao Yi."

Quan Yi gave a deep bow and strode quickly through the academy gates.

The interior was vast—fitting for a soul master academy. It was built directly in the forest outside the city, so the greenery was rich and vibrant.

The campus had many signposts, especially clear ones for new student dormitories. The dormitory text was marked in red, making it easy to follow.

The dorms were single rooms. Though not large, they had all the essentials. Quan Yi took out cleaning tools from the Blazing Sun Heart and began tidying the room.

The Blazing Sun Heart had been forcefully given to him by Su Ling'er. Unable to refuse, Quan Yi had accepted it. With a storage soul tool, managing luggage became much more convenient.

Once the cleaning was done, he took out bedding, clothes, and other daily necessities.

Looking at the room now filled with signs of daily life, Quan Yi nodded in satisfaction. Seeing that there was still time, he sat at the desk and eagerly opened the thick academy guidebook.

It was packed with information—activity schedules, class timetables, maps of the academy facilities, and more.

Formal classes would begin in one week. During that time, there would be class placement procedures and a new student orientation. Aside from that, the rest of the week was free time—for students to get used to their new environment.

Quan Yi was a fast reader, but even so, the sky had darkened by the time he finished. The cafeteria was a bit far from his dorm, so he simply took out some dried soul beast meat and ate as he read—feeling completely at ease.
