The moment Cate entered his office, Thabo, who was a carefree guy, had felt shame for the first time in a long time. "I should have cleaned up," he had thought at that time. Cate was truly beautiful, and even a recluse like Thabo could not deny this. "Hahaham," he cleared his throat before standing up.
"You have been assigned a house in the city. Just pour some of your magic into the token, and detailed instructions leading you to your place will flood your mind. The first time is always bad, but you will get used to it." Cate nodded and left the office.
Avalaon was built on a mountain with the main administration building sitting on the flattened peak. It appeared as though someone had slashed off the peak using a very large and sharp sword. From the main building, the other buildings were constructed while flowing down to the base of the mountain. They were laid out in such a manner that the most important buildings sat closer to the peak, and the least important were built in the lower city. The lower city surrounded the mountain. It was in this lower city that Cate had been assigned a house.
She faithfully followed the map she had gotten from the token and, after passing countless streets and weaving through dense traffic, she finally reached the place. It was a small bungalow with two rooms. The rooms were barely large enough to fit a couch, and the ceiling was set so low that it appeared as though it could fall on her at any second. Cate entered the house and left a few seconds later.
She then looked up towards the houses on the mountain slopes. Those were houses fit for her to stay in. There were palaces of all designs, mansions, castles, and many structures whose design she had never seen before. The slopes looked like a fantasy made real in this world.
Cate was not willing to stay in this small bungalow when there were other houses present. She knew that even though the city belonged to the Avalon Society, not everything within belonged to the Society. There were private buildings and businesses within the city. Since this was the case, Cate did not feel the need to use the bungalow even though she did not plan on giving it up. "I will use this place as a decoy," she thought as she walked away after locking up the place.
Avalon was a large and important city. It had millions of people, and so business was booming. Since this was the case, the Lost Hyde Bank had set up a branch here. This bank was used by any and all supernaturals with any level of wealth.
Cate had grown up alone since her parents were killed by the Avalon Society, but before they died, her parents had increased the wealth of the Danescu family to a truly abnormal level. The Danescu family had already been a wealthy sorcerer family with a legacy spanning thousands of years. Cate's parents had added to this wealth using unscrupulous methods. They had not allowed things such as morals to hold them back. During their hunt for the Keys of Chaos, they robbed and plundered the wealth of tens of ancient organizations and families. All this wealth was stored in the Lost Hyde Bank. Catherine Danescu was the only living heir to this wealth, and so it was all hers. She was rich beyond measure.
Before coming to the Immortal Realm to join the Avalon Society, Cate had left a few instructions for the Raoq at the headquarters of the Lost Hyde Bank in London. The Raoq were tall, slender creatures that were always covered in black robes. They had a darkness around them, making it impossible to clearly see their faces or even differentiate them from each other. They communicated using strange sounds, and they were the only beings that worked in the Lost Hyde Bank.
Cate had met with one of the Raoq at their headquarters, and at that time, she claimed the wealth of the Danescu family by confirming her identity. She then gave the Raoq a few instructions on what to do. One of these instructions was for the Lost Hyde Bank to purchase for her a place to live in Avalon. She ordered them to buy for her the best place possible, a house befitting her noble lineage.
In short, Cate had never planned on living just anywhere. That would be foolish considering the fact that she had joined the Avalon Society with intentions of betraying them. She had made sure that the bank did not use her real name to purchase the house. The house was registered under a made-up name that only the bank knew to be an alias for Cate. The Lost Hyde Bank was not limited in what they could do. It was said that as long as one had enough money, they would even try to end the world.
Cate visited the branch of the Lost Hyde Bank in the city. The branch was set up in a less extravagant building compared to the headquarters, but it was still a palace. Since this was Avalon and all the people who lived here were supernaturals, the bank felt no need to hide itself like it was in London. Cate entered the building and she carried out her business in a smooth manner.
The bank had bought for her a palace on the mountain slope. The palace was in the middle areas of the slope so as not to attract too much attention. It was a beautiful palace that had been designed with a European aesthetic. The palace was over four hundred years old, but it had been maintained perfectly using magic. There was not even a single crack to be found.
Cate entered the palace, and the bank had truly taken care of everything. They had hired servants and filled the place with art and furniture according to her instructions. Cate had a bath and enjoyed the best meal she had in months. The following day, she went back to the bungalow in the lower city and set up a few things in the house before she went to the Magic Research Bureau. There, she once again met with Thabo.
