Jordan's mind was still shrouded in a haze she couldn't get rid of, but she could still hear Cate's words ringing through her mind. They were the only thing she could hear, and as they echoed, she finally understood what had happened and what was about to transpire: her death was at hand. From the way Cate had killed the head judge, it was clear she believed she could do anything, and this included killing a "mere" Jordan.
Jordan understood that these were likely the last lucid moments she would ever have. She was terrified, and her heart had shriveled up from the fear, and yet, she was still Jordan, the heiress of the Staranse clan. As these thoughts ran through her mind, Jordan gave up on protecting her dignity. She looked at Cate and tried to buy some time. As she did, she lost control over her bladder. Her red dress paid the price. The smell of urine alerted everyone to what was happening, and when they saw the wet dress and the location of the wetness, they were all left wide-eyed. Jordan was a very beautiful woman, and to see her urinating in her dress left countless wild thoughts rampant.
Some of the other girls laughed while others looked away. The men were quite different, as most of them looked at Jordan with their eyes filled with desire. One would think they would be disgusted and look away, but they were men, and their instincts were quite separate from their brains. Cate saw the many different reactions and shook her head.
Jordan heard the laughter and felt the burning gazes on her body, but she remained calm. She didn't allow any of it to affect her at all. This was the moment that would decide her life and death. Dignity and "face" were of no use right now. She slowly reached her left hand towards her spear that had fallen some distance away. Her hand wasn't long enough to grab the spear, but this didn't matter.
"Have you forgotten that I am your sister? We are related by blood. Killing me is something that will anger the gods and bring about your ruin," Jordan said. She was trying to distract Cate.
What she didn't know was that Cate had long ago paid the price for carelessness. She had learned many things since then. She saw the hand reaching out but did not stop the young woman since this was what she wanted.
"I can assure you that killing you will have no effect on my heart at all. Even if the gods look down on my actions and abhor me, I do not care, since my desire is for the fall of the gods," Cate said.
Even though the humans had forgotten the existence of the many gods, the supernaturals had not. They were certain of the existence of the gods, with some of them even having made contracts with gods in order to gain more power. The location of sacred places such as Mount Olympus were known to the supernaturals, and some of the gods even walked in the mortal world and interacted with the supernaturals in a more direct manner. There were a few conflicts between the divine and the supernatural. The gods, of course, won all these conflicts, but this also meant that there were supernaturals whose dream was to bring about the fall of the gods. This was a grand but ridiculous dream that had no possibility of coming to pass.
When Cate said her dream out loud, no one laughed since there were indeed a few mad people out there.
Jordan was surprised by her sister's words. As far as she knew, Cate had been raised in a large place that was even put under her name. She had a personal servant and never lacked for anything. Jordan didn't see any reason as to why Cate would be against the gods.
"Even if you do not care for the gods, you should remember that we live in a civilized society. Killing one's own kin is not something that anyone will be willing to look past. You will become a Dark Magician and be scorned by all."
Cate was no longer in the mood to explain how little she cared about the thoughts of others. If there was a competition for most self-absorbed person, Cate was sure that she would easily win it.
"Are these your last words?" Cate asked.
Jordan flicked her hand in a strange manner, and the spear that was at least thirty feet away flew through the air and pierced through Cate, coming out through her chest. Blood spewed everywhere, and a stupefied look appeared on Cate's face. When Jordan saw this, she got to her feet and began laughing maniacally. She was truly a psychotic beauty, and right now, her glory was being shown to the world.
"Your arrogance has brought about your death!" Jordan cried out. She moved closer to Cate and grabbed her face with both hands. "You are a bastard, and you should have accepted your fate and handed over the spell while I was still asking nicely. I will now rip out your soul and take it back to the clan. There, everything you know will be pulled out of your soul in the most painful manner possible. Even after that, I will not allow you to begin your journey to Hades. I will torture you for the rest of my life, and even after my death, I will make sure that my successor carries on from where I will have stopped. You will forever know pain."
These were the words of a mad person, and yet the beautiful Jordan was the one throwing them out there.
At this moment, everything changed. The spear that had gone through Cate disappeared, and the blood faded away. Jordan didn't know what to make of this scene. She looked around, and the way all the other participants and the judges were looking at her told her everything she needed to know. All this had been an illusion, from the moment she flicked her hand to move her spear to when she began acting like a madwoman. None of it had been real.
"I allowed you to use your spear so that you can understand your current situation," Cate said. "I already cast a spell over your mind. All your thoughts and dreams will first go through my mind before they reach you. Everything you see, feel, and hope for will also be under my control. If I want you dead, all I have to do is think it, and you will be on your way to the underworld. From now on, you are basically my slave. I suggest you behave yourself if you do not want things to get any worse for you."
