Chapter 60 - Golden Sand

Vasuki bid farewell to Edwina after some time. "Come visit me when you have time," she said, and the environment changed as Edwina was now standing in front of Aaric.

"Mom?" Aaric noticed her, and she approached him and kissed his forehead. "Why do you look tired?" Edwina asked.

Aaric made a face. "I just encountered a demon here…" he grumbled and then shrugged. Edwina gave Aaric a curious look.

Aaric just shook his head. "He just trained me, so…"

Edwina chuckled. "I will be doing the same…" she said with a smile.

Aaric shrugged. "I am feeling a tingling in my eye for some time…" he then mentioned, and Edwina ruffled his hair as her eyes changed, her pupils turning into a flower pattern.

"I think I know the reason…" she said as Aaric stared at her dumbly. I am going to get the coolest power ever, he thought as he looked at his mother in expectation.

Edwina opened her eyes and looked around. She discovered she also did not have her wand anymore and raised her hand as green motes of light were released from her palm.

She smiled and floated above the ground, then gracefully landed in front of Simon and Aaric.

"How long did it take?" she asked, tilting her head a little.

Simon spoke in a solemn tone. "It took a month. You missed the vacation time of Aaric."

Edwina was not impressed with the answer and just looked at Elder Huo.

"Almost an hour," he said from the side.

Edwina nodded and gave Simon a side-eye before going to Sylvena and picking her up.

"Will you be going next?" Simon asked Elder Huo, who shook his head.

"I performed the ritual three days ago," Elder Huo replied, and Simon shrugged as Aaric stepped forward.

Simon placed the crystals and cloak as Elder Huo gave him the bowl and stepped back.

Aaric sat cross-legged and drank the red liquid as he went into meditation.

Aaric opened his eyes and looked around. He then heard a voice from behind him.

"Are you ready to train with your father?"

He whipped his head around and saw the grin of his father.

He just said, Nope, in his head and started running, but anywhere he ran, he was met with his father standing in front of him with crossed arms and a grinning face.

"Good, son. Running will be a good warm-up," Simon's voice came from behind, and Aaric just gave up and went limp.

"I don't even care anymore."

A chuckle was heard from his side, and his training began.

After his training, he was met with his sweet mother, who pampered him and told him how to use his new cool eyes.

"I know a good place for you to use this power," he told Edwina, who hugged him and kissed his cheek.

"We will go there when we have time then," she said as Aaric nodded and left in a random direction.

As he was walking, he saw an ethereal figure in white standing and looking around. He approached it, and his scenery changed.

He was in a room with two distorted figures: one in the shape of a little girl who was opening a door.

On the other side, he saw the figure of an older woman, trying to perform a ritual. Just as the little girl opened the door, the ritual backfired.

"Noo…" the woman's distorted voice was heard as her life ended and the little girl was left there weeping.

Aaric tried, but he was not able to change what had happened. He just went to the girl, hugged her, and whispered assurances to her.

He noticed some golden sand stuck to the girl and a dark barrier stopping them from integrating.

The girl buried her face in his neck as she sobbed. He waved his hand, and the dark energy was sucked into his right palm.

His left palm then radiated blue energy that made a link between the sand and the girl, allowing for slow integration.

"It will be fine," he whispered as the scenery faded away, and he got a sweet "Thank you," whispered in his ear.

He then walked around and saw a familiar garden in front of him and two familiar figures.

He ran up to them and hugged Vasuki and Aeloria.

"You will grow taller than me in a year," Aeloria commented as she hugged the boy.

Vasuki chuckled from the side and waved her hand as a table with food appeared in front of them.

They sat down, and Aeloria was putting a mountain of food on his plate as he asked, "Who was that…?"

Vasuki nodded. "She is your friend. It seems you entered her dream and helped her."

Aaric tilted his head and shrugged.

"Will she be fine now?" he asked, to which Vasuki smiled and nodded. "She will be much better. I will keep an eye out for her."

Aaric smiled at her. "Thank you…"

Vasuki just waved her hand as they continued their chat.

Aaric opened his eyes and looked around. He looked down and saw his wand was still there.

He looked at Elder Huo in confusion as the old man chuckled. "You have not spent enough time with your wand yet."

Aaric shrugged and tried floating, and he succeeded as he floated around the area and landed in front of Chaya, who shrunk down and wrapped herself around his neck.

"Rest a bit now, girl," Aaric said, kissing the snake.

He then looked at Simon reproachfully. "Now I know," he said.

Simon shrugged. "Told you."

Father and son looked at each other and chuckled after a minute.
