Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Rift That Took Them

They called it the day the sky broke.

No one knew what it was at first. A shimmer in the air.

A glowing crack that split the sky open like paper.

It wasn't lightning.

It wasn't a storm.

It was something... alive.

Then it opened.

And through it, we saw a different world.

A place that didn't follow our rules—where floating islands hung in the sky, and colossal beasts moved like shadows through clouds.

A world pulled straight out of legends.

Dragons. Titans. Spirits of flame and frost.

Everything we thought was myth—was real.

They named it a Parallel.

A portal to another dimension.

One not bound by physics, science, or reason.

Where the laws of magic ruled.

And from that moment on, the world was never the same.

I was ten years old.

We were just walking home from the station.

Me and my parents. Laughing. Talking about dinner.

Then the air turned cold.

Above us, space cracked open.

The Parallel appeared without warning.

We didn't have time to run.

The pull was instant.

My feet left the ground.

I remember my mother's scream.

My father throwing himself toward me.

A blinding light.

Then—darkness.

When I woke up, I was lying on the pavement.

The Parallel was gone.

So were my parents.

The authorities called it a collapse. Said it vanished before rescue teams could act.

I was the only one found.

They told me I was lucky.

But I never believed that.

The world changed after that day.

Parallels kept appearing—more and more frequently.

And from within them came danger... and power.

Some people returned from those worlds with abilities.

Stronger. Faster. Changed.

They were called Hunters.

People who awakened the System and could survive inside those realms.

It became normal.

A part of life.

Every sixteen-year-old now hopes for it.

The day their System activates.

The day they become something more.

But when I turned sixteen... nothing happened.

No screen.

No stats.

No voice.

Just silence.

They told me it happens sometimes.

That not everyone awakens.

That I should move on.

But I never could.

Because the dreams never stopped.

Dreams of fire in the sky.

Of beasts made of shadow.

Of a world that stole everything from me.

And even now…

six years later…

I still remember the Parallel that took my parents.

And the cold feeling that it was never finished with me.
