"Man, really..." Kakashi sighed, a hint of exasperation in his tone as he took in the sight of the two fish-like summoning beasts that had appeared. His own Ninken, the eight dogs he could summon, were masters of communication and tracking. While they were a capable combat unit, he knew they wouldn't stand up against a Jōnin like Suien. He couldn't use them in the same way Suien could use his.
"Hey, where are you going?" asked Sasuke, grabbing Naruto's arm as he was about to flicker forward in the battle.
"We should help Kakashi-sensei, it's three on one now," Naruto said, a cat-like smirk on his face, clearly eager to join in.
"Naruto, do you really think Kakashi-sensei needs our help? Besides, this is sensei's fight; we should just observe from here and not become a hindrance to him." Sakura sighed, explaining the logic to Naruto.
"Yeah, Sakura is right, we shouldn't bother his fight." Sasuke nodded in agreement.
"Fine... now let go of my arm." Naruto huffed, crossing his arms and fixing his intense gaze on Kakashi and Suien.
"Rainenmaru, Konenmaru, attack him," Suien ordered his black koi-fish and catfish summons. Both summoning beasts swiftly moved, positioning themselves on Kakashi's left and right.
"...Huh..." Kakashi looked around, a slightly confused expression on his face. He wasn't truly confused, he sense that Suien try to use Genjutsu on him.
As he saw Suien rushing at him with his blue Water Sword, with thick but sharp edges and blocked it with ease using his Tantō. Meanwhile, Rainenmaru, rushing at him from his left with incredible speed, was easily halted by Kakashi's left hand, tightly grabbed it's mouth. Konenmaru, who was on Kakashi's right, made eye contact with Kakashi's Sharingan. The catfish summon's eyes suddenly swiveled, pointing at Suien, and it shot an immense torrent of water with full force.
"What?!" Suien's eyes widened in disbelief as the torrent of water slammed into him, throwing him into the trunk of a nearby tree. The giant black koi-fish, Rainenmaru, wore a similar expression of shock.
"Were you trying to use a Genjutsu on me?" Kakashi questioned, tightening his left hand grip around the black koi-fish's mouth.
Suien, who was hit by Konenmaru's water shot at full power, was visibly injured. His guard had been down, and the attack had torn his dark blue jacket, revealing bloody bruises. He gritted his teeth and glared at Kakashi, then looked at Konenmaru, but immediately recognized the eye pattern. The Three-Tomoe of the Sharingan were spinning in the summon's eyes. Meanwhile, the koi-fish, suffocating in Kakashi's tightened grip, tried to resist, its eyes widening and turning red from the lack of oxygen. Within the next few seconds, the summoning vanished in a puff of smoke. Kakashi's gaze fell on his left hand.
He seemed a little surprised and muttered, "Did it use reverse summoning at the last moment? Well... that was a good call, though."
"KONENMARU! WAKE UP!" Suien shouted at his catfish summon, while glaring at Kakashi.
"This isn't like the weak Genjutsu you tried on me; your summon is under my control," said Kakashi, as he slowly walked toward Suien. Suien stood up, removed his torn jacket, and glared at Kakashi intently. Beneath the blue jacket, he wore a black fishnet-type full-sleeved shirt.
"Well, that level of Genjutsu... wouldn't even work on me!" Kakashi smirked before he vanished from his position and swiftly reappeared in front of Suien, his Tantō slashing horizontally toward Suien's head.
Suddenly, a six-foot-tall Water Wall emerged and blocked Kakashi's slash. Kakashi raised his brow. "You can use a B-rank Ninjutsu without handsigns? It seems like you aren't weak in any way. But, you're out of luck, because your opponent is me."
"DON'T YOU UNDERESTIMATE ME!" Suien roared, creating a small distance between himself and Kakashi. He once again formed a Water Sword in his right hand, pointing it at Kakashi.
"I heard a lot about the Hatake Clan from Konoha being good at Kenjutsu. Let's see who is better. My sword is not a normal water sword, it is a hidden technique of Waterfall Village, 'Water-cutting Sword'." Suien grinned before flickering at Kakashi from his side. Kakashi saw him coming, but he didn't have to do anything. Konenmaru, still under Kakashi's control, shot another torrent of water at Suien. This time, Suien was on guard and blocked it with his large sword, moving backward.
"Oh, I almost forgot about you, Konenmaru," Suien muttered, but wasn't angry at the catfish. He used reverse summoning himself to send it back to its location. Upon Konenmaru's disappearance, Kakashi sensed that his mental chakra-based link with the catfish summon had also vanished, and the Genjutsu abruptly ended.
"I had this small doubt before, whether reverse summon would still work when it was under my Genjutsu control," mused Kakashi, "Hmmm... the Summoning Contract and Reverse Summon are bound by the blood of a Ninja, so even if under my control, he would still be able to use reverse summon."
