"Idiot! They're enemies!"
Sasuke had no time for Danzo's whining. He grabbed his head, forcing him to look at the eerie woman growling lowly.
"Ah!"
Danzo snapped awake, flipping up from the ground. He drew his sword and stood with Hiruzen and Kagami.
"Shhk!"
Mako plucked the kunai from her chest. The wound gaped deep to the bone, yet no blood spilled. The sight chilled the boys to the core.
"You're the man-eating culprit, aren't you?"
Hiruzen held a kunai before him, other hand signaling behind his back. They had to fire a flare—these enemies were beyond their level.
"Eat…"
Mako tilted her head, red eyes blank but hungry. Behind her, Kamihi smirked at their fumbling signals.
"In this world, it's just people eating people."
He formed a seal.
"Signal, now!" Hiruzen shouted.
Danzo ripped the flare cord and raised it.
"Katon: Oni Tourou (Fire Style: Demon Lantern)!"
Before the flare fired, ghostly fireballs swirled around them. One gulped the flare whole. Smoke puffed, and the flare died.
The boys sweated under the fiery glares of a dozen flaming oni. Kamihi casually manipulated them with his fingers.
"Who are you?" Kagami demanded. Such mastery of Katon reminded him of his clan.
"Why would I talk with food? Mako, eat."
"Eat."
She strode toward them, delighted.
"Damn!"
Hiruzen hurled a kunai, fingers weaving.
"Suiton: Mizu Rappa (Water Style: Wild Water Wave)!"
A jet burst from his mouth, drenching the fireballs. Steam engulfed the street, hiding them. Kamihi raised a brow, impressed.
"Not bad, brat."
He clapped his hands, blasting the mist away—
Only to see Danzo puffing his cheeks at him.
"Fuuton: Daitoppa (Wind Style: Great Breakthrough)!"
The gale roared. Kamihi wasn't concerned—such a jutsu from a child wouldn't hurt.
But Kagami had been waiting. Kunai gleamed between his fingers, launched into the gale. Their speed multiplied, hidden by the wind.
"Got him!"
The blades struck Kamihi squarely. He cried out, collapsing.
"Haha! That was all me!" Danzo crowed.
"…Why isn't she reacting?" Kagami frowned. Mako just stood, expressionless.
"Danzo, restrain her. I'll signal Father," Hiruzen ordered, reaching for his waist—
But his flare was gone.
"Looking for this?"
Kamihi crouched behind him, smiling, rolling the flare in his palm.
"Behind you!" Kagami slashed. Kamihi caught the blade between two fingers, immovable.
Hiruzen spun, stabbing with a kunai—only for Kamihi's elbow to crash into his chest. He flew back, smashing into a wall, coughing blood.
"Monkey!" Danzo cried, dropping his rope.
"Eat… butt."
Pale hands seized his shoulders. A fetid whisper chilled his soul.
On the other side, Kagami flared with chakra.
"Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu (Fire Style: Great Fireball)!"
A blazing sphere roared toward Kamihi.
"Oh? A proper Katon. But too slow."
He vanished, Kagami's fireball exploding into the ground uselessly. Kagami grimaced, recalling Gin's mocking words: That jutsu can't kill anyone.
Kamihi reappeared, unimpressed. "Nice, but weak."
Danzo shrieked as Mako tore his clothes, his plump rear exposed to the night.
"Eat… butt."
Her hungry gaze locked on him.
"Damn it… Danzo!" Hiruzen staggered up, pale. Kagami joined him, though drained.
"Monkey, save me!" Danzo begged, life flashing before his eyes.
"Mako. Eat," Kamihi commanded gently.
"No!" Hiruzen and Kagami roared. Kagami's eyes burned, splitting with pain—then turned scarlet.
"The Sharingan?" Kamihi murmured, momentarily surprised. A single tomoe. Not a threat.
"Your eyes!" Hiruzen gasped.
Kagami felt strength flood him. I'm invincible now!
"Let him go!"
He drew another sword, leaping with renewed vigor.
"Hiruzen, cover me!"
Fireballs sprayed as cover.
Kamihi sighed. "Fools. Kusa-ryuu: Happou Shou (Grass Shadow Style: Breaking Palm)!"
Wind palms shattered the fireballs. But through the sparks, Kagami lunged.
"Uchiha-ryuu: Kenyaku Zan (Uchiha Style: Sword Leap Slash)!"
His blade flashed at Kamihi's throat—
"Pathetic."
Kamihi tilted his head, slapping Kagami away.
"Mirror!" Hiruzen leapt, catching him, but the impact crushed them both into the blanket. Blood sprayed from his lips. Kagami curled in pain beside him.
"Monkey! Mirror!"
Danzo screamed. His friends lay broken. Desperation surged. His hands blurred in secret seals.
"Ton Ton: Tonkyodai no Jutsu! (Butt Release: Grand Butt Technique!)"
"Eh?"
Kamihi turned—and froze. Danzo's rear swelled monstrously, bouncing Mako away.
"What the hell…"
Kamihi struck instantly. "Kusa-ryuu: Happou Shou!"
"Ton Ton: Hip Return!"
Danzo clenched. His massive butt absorbed the strike, dimpling, then snapped back—launching Kamihi with multiplied force.
"Wha—?!"
The wind slammed Kamihi across the street. He tumbled, chest throbbing.
"A jutsu that reflects attacks… from his butt?!"
Danzo panted. His chakra was nearly gone, and his miraculous rear shrank back, sagging.
He rushed to shield his friends.
"Go, Danzo… we can't move. Find Father…" Hiruzen coughed weakly.
"I won't abandon you!" Danzo declared, standing firm, pants still torn.
"…Could you at least put your pants back on?" Kagami groaned.
"Ha?"
Kamihi's face twisted in rage. "You brats… enough! Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu!"
A fireball, massive and blazing, roared forth.
"Today you'll eat roasted meat, Mako!"
The three shut their eyes.
But the blanket beneath them shimmered, glowing faintly. It absorbed the flames completely, leaving only silence.
"What?!" Kamihi gasped, checking his hands for genjutsu.
The boys blinked at each other, dumbfounded.
Meanwhile, back in his yard, Gin scratched his head at the empty clothesline.
"Huh? Where's the Veil of the Witch I hung up to dry?"
