"Pfft!"
Zhao Wuji, whose Martial Soul Avatar had been shattered, slammed into the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood. His aura weakened to the extreme.
Ning Rongrong, who had supported him with her auxiliary soul skills, was in no better condition—her soul power nearly depleted. Her face was deathly pale, and only after consuming two of Oscar's sausages did she begin to recover slightly.
"Teacher Zhao! "
Han Feng and the others rushed over in panic. Dai Mubai tried to help Zhao Wuji up, but Zhao Wuji shoved him away forcefully:
"Dai Mubai! Take Han Feng and the others and run! Don't look back! Oscar—give me sausages! I'll take full responsibility for what happens today! Even if it's the King of the Forest, he won't take my student from me while I'm still breathing! "
Dai Mubai froze at Zhao Wuji's words, but Zhao Wuji ignored him. He stuffed the sausages into his mouth and stood up with a ferocious expression on his rugged face.
"Give Xiao Wu back to me! "
Just then, they heard Tang San's maddened roar. In the darkness, his eyes gleamed like purple gemstones. He threw out waves of hidden weapons and unleashed foul, poisonous toxins, recklessly attacking the Titan Giant Ape.
Only Xiao Wu could drive the usually calm and composed Tang San to such a berserk state.
"Idiot! Get back here! "
Zhu Zhuqing and the others were moved by Tang San's sincere feelings for Xiao Wu. But Zhao Wuji saw something else in his eyes—a death wish.
"Boom!"
The Titan Giant Ape glanced disdainfully at Tang San's attacks. If Xiao Wu hadn't told it not to harm him, a flick of its finger could have ended this human boy's life.
Even so, the Titan Giant Ape merely snorted. It waved its hand and summoned a gust of wind that instantly scattered all of Tang San's hidden weapons and toxins. Tang San himself was blown away like a rag doll!
Han Feng, staying the most composed, stomped the ground and leapt high into the air. With the Radiant Heaven Shield activated on his back, he managed to catch Tang San mid-air—the second soul skill couldn't match Tang San's falling speed!
"Ugh!"
Tang San crashed hard into Han Feng's chest. The impact knocked the air out of Han Feng's lungs, making him groan as both of them smashed into the ground.
Meanwhile, the Titan Giant Ape, having swatted Tang San away, wore a twisted grin of triumph. It didn't bother pursuing them and instead turned and left with Xiao Wu.
The beast's speed was terrifying. In the blink of an eye, it vanished without a trace. From its sudden appearance to its departure, less than a minute had passed—even Oscar's third soul skill hadn't expired yet. Ma Hongjun stood in a daze—if not for the devastation around him, he'd think the whole thing was a dream!
Zhao Wuji's face was pitch black, his mouth still stuffed with sausages. Pain flickered between his brows—clearly, the backlash from the shattered Martial Soul Avatar hadn't subsided yet.
Dai Mubai stood at a loss. Han Feng, however, remained calm. He glanced at Tang San, whose face was now shrouded in a dangerous darkness, and sighed deeply—but in the end, said nothing.
What could he say?
"Oscar! Give me your third soul skill! "
Just then, Tang San suddenly looked up, his voice cold and low. Even Han Feng was startled by the look in his eyes.
That gaze—burning with anger, madness, killing intent, and malice—all twisted together. Any ordinary person would have gone insane under such emotional pressure.
Oscar was shocked too. Though he didn't know what Tang San was planning, he still tried to dissuade him, "Little San... Don't be reckless! "
"Give it to me!! "
Tang San didn't listen at all. He growled through clenched teeth, bloodshot eyes like a feral, bloodthirsty soul beast.
Han Feng patted Oscar's shoulder, stepping forward instead. "Tang San... Are you not afraid to die? "
Tang San fell silent for a moment, then stared firmly into Han Feng's eyes and spoke with clarity:
"I'm afraid. But I'm more afraid of losing Xiao Wu."
Han Feng suddenly felt irritated. This is why love is always such a pain in the ass...
He'd known from the start—even with his "golden finger" (cheat ability), once he entered Shrek, this would be the moment where he was at his weakest. He had planned to stay quiet, do nothing, and let the plot play out safely.
But now he realized—he couldn't do it.
Not to mention the fact that he'd stolen Meng Yiran's duel earlier, meaning Tang San was still only Level 29.
Han Feng knew that Tang San wouldn't encounter the Titan Giant Ape again—but he would face a 2,000-year-old Man-Faced Demon Spider.
Even with all his skills, Tang San at Level 30 barely survived that encounter in the original timeline. Now, at Level 29... Could he even win?
Han Feng looked deeply at Tang San, then closed his eyes and muttered to himself:
"Fine. I'll just consider this payback for when I mooch off your immortal herbs later..."
When he reopened his eyes, he spoke firmly:
"Alright. I'll go with you."
"No! Don't go! "
Just as Han Feng finished speaking, Tang San's pupils shrank, ready to object—but someone else reacted faster.
Ning Rongrong rushed forward and stood in front of Han Feng. Her eyes were filled with pleading.
She had already guessed Tang San's intentions earlier but didn't stop him—because she couldn't. She had no right to stop him.
But now that Han Feng was going too, she still had no right—but she couldn't help herself.
Yet Han Feng merely shot her a cold glance and ignored her completely. Turning to Oscar, he said,
"You can't stop him. Give it to him. With me there, at least I can bring him back."
Oscar sighed, knowing Han Feng was right. Without another word, he handed Han Feng two sausages and walked away, pretending nothing had happened.
Ning Rongrong stood there, tears forming in her eyes after being ignored. She watched Han Feng's back as he walked away, clutching a Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda insignia in her hand—but she never got the chance to give it to him.
Tang San looked at her awkward expression and replied,
"Even if I die, Han Feng won't."
Han Feng snorted at Tang San's words and tossed him one of the sausages. "Don't act like you're protecting me. You're the one dragging me down."
"Let's go."
With that, Han Feng ate his sausage, and wings sprouted from his back. He took to the sky.
Tang San quickly followed, swallowing his sausage whole and flying up after him.
Ning Rongrong stared sadly at Han Feng's departing figure. She knew he wouldn't turn around.
On the other side, Zhao Wuji, now suffering from a splitting headache, finally noticed the two figures flying away. Realizing what had happened, he cursed loudly and leapt after them.
But how could he match the speed of Oscar's flying sausage technique in his current condition? He could barely stand, let alone catch up!
"Unbelievable! One by one, they're all defying me! "
Zhao Wuji raged. Dai Mubai awkwardly tried to calm him down.
"Calm down, Teacher Zhao…"
"Calm down my ass!! " Zhao Wuji roared. He grabbed Oscar by the collar and barked,
"Give everyone one flying sausage! We're going after them! "
"Teacher Zhao, please... Just give Tang San and Feng a chance," Dai Mubai pleaded, thinking Zhao Wuji was chasing to bring them back.
Zhao Wuji became even angrier. If he weren't so weak, he would've beaten Dai Mubai senseless.
"Get lost! I'm going to save them—not drag them back! When did I say I was giving up on Xiao Wu!? "
