Chapter 40 - 40. Crafting Potions

By this time, the skies over Soth Glade Town were painted in a dusky twilight hue, the edges of the rooftops gleaming faintly beneath the lingering glow of magic street lamps. Even in the fading light, the town's silhouette pulsed with quiet energy.

Kaito's footsteps echoed through the Potion Division's marble-tiled hallway as he entered Room 2B, an intermediate brewing room. The whispering shimmer of the purification enchantments trailed across his coat, cleansing dust and pollen from his sleeves. His inventory was heavy with herbs—bought at copper prices, destined for gold returns.

Inside, the alchemical workstation blinked to life.

[Room 2B Rental Remaining Time: 55:03]

He approached the cauldron with, pulling up the brewing interface. His fingers slid across the system menus.

[Select Recipe: Custom Input]

Potion Type: Minor Regeneration Potion

Ingredients Required (Confirmed):

– Flamevine ×3

– Whisperleaf ×2

– Bittergrass ×5

These three ingredients were the core of the recipe, this time nor only he had bought a lot of them but also increased the amount of other herbs he had in his vault.

He tapped "Begin."

The Whisper Flame ignited with a sharp hiss at the base of the cauldron.

Its passive glow—flickering between orange and silver—made the temperature perfectly even, no need for constant adjustments.

[Whisper Flame Active – +10% Brewing Success]

Without the codex he only had 20% success rate that's why he had decided to stop the brewing before he gets the codex. This time he was here just to refine the potions his team needs, rest he won't waste the herbs and instead collect more as soon as they get replenished at the auction house.

Kaito moved quickly. One bundle of Flamevine was shaved and pressed. Two leaves of Whisperleaf were finely chopped and dusted. Five Bittergrass stems—scrubbed, dried, and flaked.

Not like in other games, in Glory the life-skill players had to do the whole process.

He poured them in—first the grass, then the leaves, then a few drops of flame extract. The mixture hissed and turned deep green.

After 5 minutes, the refining process has entered the final stage. As long as it passes through the cooling tube and is poured into the glass bottle, the refining process is complete.

However, glass bottles are purchased for a fee, and a minimum glass bottle is 2 copper coins.

Kaito had already purchased 30 glass bottles and put them neatly on the table. He took one glass bottle and placed it at the exit of the cooling tube. He opened the valve and poured the medicine into the bottle.

 A flicker of light.

[Brewing Successful – Minor Regeneration Potion Created]

[+1 Proficiency, +180 EXP]

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"One down. 29 more to go."

For the next hour, Kaito became a machine.

He adjusted ratios, tested stirring speeds and mixed then with as much stability as possible The room smelled of cooked herbs and hot stone. Several batches failed—exploding into fizz and useless steam. But more and more began to succeed.

Each potion was bottled into the glass bottles.

Halfway through the session:

[System Notification]

Apprentice Potion Brewer – Proficiency: 21 / 1,000

...….

By the time the timer ticked down to two hours, Kaito leaned back, flexing his fingers. His sleeve was damp with alchemical vapor. His eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

85 attempts. 30 successes. A 35% success rate. Not bad for a basic apprentice. When he gets the codex of verdant bloom that's when potion brewing will also start bringing him huge profits.

.....

When he was done sealing the thirtieth bottle, Kaito sent a quick message.

Kaito:"Kaede, come pick up the potions."

Five minutes later, the door to the forge opened, and Kaede stepped in, brushing a few stray strands of hair out of his face.

Kaede: "Brother."

Kaito gave a silent nod, handing over thirty Minor Regeneration Potions.

Kaede returned the gesture with a small smile before handing him the ores they had collected.

Kaede: "These are the ores we've gathered so far."

Kaito gave it a glance. "Not bad."

Kaede: "After grinding for so long, our team coordination's gotten sharper. We're leveling much more efficiently now."

Then his expression shifted slightly.

Kaede: "By the way, while we were grinding, I spotted a thief sneaking around nearby. I think someone's already discovered our leveling spot."

Kaito's eyes narrowed slightly, but his voice remained calm.

Kaito: "Don't worry about it for now. If you see any team or players from a guild, just evacuate immediately."

Kaede: "But Brother, that's our main spot. We can't just give it up that easily—"

Before he could finish, Kaito flicked a finger against his forehead with a light snap.

Kaito: "We're not giving it up. We're just retreating… temporarily. Once more of our teams arrive, we'll reclaim it."

Kaede rubbed his forehead with a sheepish grin.

Kaede: "Understood, Brother."

As Kaede turned and walked off with the crate of potions, Kaito's gaze lingered for a moment on his retreating figure.

Then his eyes narrowed, thoughts sharpening.

'Let's wait and see who's lurking first… once I know who it is, I'll decide what to do.'

He nodded in quiet satisfaction at his panel. The only lingering regrets were his limited number of skills—and his low Honor Rank.

"For now, let's focus on raising the Honor Rank. I can make up for the skills after Level 15," he thought.

As there were still two hours until daybreak in the real world, He acting on that thought, Kaito walked toward the Timber Assembly Workshop—an unassuming structure tucked behind the main plaza. He recalled a little-known method to indirectly increase Honor Points… one discovered much later in the game.

It had only surfaced because of a peculiar player—someone who had treated the game like real life, helping NPCs and engaging in civic duties out of genuine goodwill.

'As they say… good people are rewarded everywhere.'

After that every other player who understood the value of honor points wanted to copy that method but only the first three were allowed to do so after that no matter how much the other players spent it didn't matter.
