He opened it, and a familiar voice drifted in. "Evric…"
Even without seeing the face at first, I knew immediately who it was. Vanya.
Evric's tone shifted, polite but distracted. "What's up?"
"You didn't check your email," Vanya replied, stepping closer. "The second draft of the project presentation is finally out…"
Before she could continue, Evric cut in. "Babe, please let me call you when I'm done." His eyes flicked back to the screen, his whole focus still on me.
I swallowed, torn between smiling and frowning. "I'll be sleeping already."
"Okay," he said softly, his voice gentler now. "Goodnight, baby."
I was about to hang up when his voice caught me again. "Babe, wait."
My brows furrowed. "What?"
"You forgot something." His lips curved faintly, like he was teasing.
"What?" I asked, half tired, half amused.
"You haven't told me you love me."
I glanced at the screen, lowering my voice. "You have someone there…"
