The bell rang and everyone ventured to their various classes. She sat down in the office.
"Mr Dave, the new student?".
".... I'll think about it". Mr Dave said over the phone he glanced at Evelyn and hanged up.
Clears throat " So you're the Minister's daughter?".
"Ye.. yes sir". She stammered.
"Don't get nervous, okay. You are welcome to Martin's college, London".
"We're excited as well as the students to receive someone new in the college".Mr Dave said in a rehearsed tone.
"Ohh okay". She said almost silently.
"I understand that Mrs Luna here has briefed you on the rules of the school?"
"Yes, she has".
"That's good". He sighed and signaled Mrs Luna to leave. She filed her acceptance form and stood up quietly. Mr Dave opened the door and she walked through. The hallway was quiet now , everyone would be in their classes. She was starting to get cold feet just thinking of it.
"Don't worry you're in the same class with Ted . Just look in his direction while talking and you'll fill much better". Mr Dave said as if he read her mind.
"Thank you, sir". She said quietly.
They got to her class after passing through the hallway. The class went dead silent as Mr Dave continued talking.
"She is a new student and I'm hoping that you'll make her feel welcome".
"Yes, sir". They chorused.
"So , introduce yourself".Mr Dave said ushering her forward.
She took a deep breath and moved in front of the class.
"I'm Evelyn, the daughter of a minister or known to most as a business tycoon. I guess that's all I have to say". She said and moved backwards.
"You heard her , please treat her nicely she's new okay".
"Ok,sir".
A smile she didn't think would suit him appeared on his face. He actually looked cute for a man in his late thirties. Yep, she guessed his age from his look. She was pretty good at that. He signaled her to her seat without taking another look at her.
She walked through and sat down without making a sound. Mr Dave left as quickly as he had come. All eyes turned to her now,she felt the words push through "WHAT?".
Ted walked over to her seat. He had his hair dyed to brighter shade of white . His face was still the same, it's forever Imprinted in her head.
"Hi, sweetie".
"I told you not to call me that ".
"Guys meet my childhood friend, Evelyn". He had quite a reputation no doubt. Heir to the amazing wealth of his father and grandfather or is it forefathers. Their family has always been one of immerse wealth. They had sorted out just in a few decades, the wealth issues of their future generations.
"Nice to meet you, Evevie" Nate said In a cool voice.
"You are?".she asked taking his hands in hers.
"Nate,I'm a good friend of your friend technically".
"Oh okay".
"Right, hands off dude, she's still new in this school. Don't scare her off".
"Very funny, Ted" Evelyn said sarcastically.
The students laughed on until a teacher walked in. She paid very little attention along with other students. Some dozed off, some floated off into space and some paid no attention whatsoever.
"He's Mr Daniel, really boring man".
Mia,a girl sitting beside her said making her laugh out loud.
At break time, her table was glorious from all the gifts she had received. Mia's name got stuck in her head and that is definitely a good sign.
When the school dismissed for the day, she could have sworn she couldn't wait to come back tomorrow.
"Bye, Evelyn" Nate waved as he got into his car. His driver stepped on the gas and they zoomed off.
Mr Smith's car pulled up in front of the school and she got in.
"So how was school today?". Mr Smith asked with a look of confidence in his eyes.
"It was good,I guess". She said staring at her nails."Okay to be honest,it was amazing I made quite a lot of friends". She added smiling.
"Now that's what I want to hear. Your mum would be so proud of you, dear."
"I know, it wasn't a very good time In Los Angeles, was it?". She asked.
"No , it wasn't but you're starting to get better at associating with people. I hope it stays that way".
"Same here,dad".
