"Kai, you tampered with fate. Do you admit it?"
He stared at them.
The Codex pulsed once.
Then he smiled.
"I do."
A stir ran through the hall.
"But I didn't tamper with fate. I rewrote the lie you called fate."
The Elder's palm glowed.
"You will be executed."
Kai stepped forward. Calm.
"Then do it."
The Elder's hand fell.
And nothing happened.
Not even wind.
Because the Codex had rewritten that moment ten seconds before it happened.
