When she nodded he continued, "I don't like wasting time. So when I call, you come. I don't appreciate anyone being intrusive about my matters, so I'd prefer if you keep any curious thoughts to yourself."

"And lastly..,"

He leaned in slightly, maintaining steady eye contact with her. His voice dropped to a low, almost warning tone. "Don't fall in love with me. I don't do love. And the minute I find you show any signs of clinginess… that's when you'll pay the price."

"My payment would be…your blood."

His eyes suddenly turned serious as he continued, "You shall never offer your blood to anyone else throughout your academic years...meaning you will never serve anyone else."

Eve stood stunned, her breath caught in her throat as she waited for him to finish. Then he leaned in, his lips barely an inch from hers, and whispered, "Except me."

The only word that kept echoing in her mind was 'blood'....and she could see she was becoming something rare in his eyes.
