Chapter 24 - Know Your Place!

✦✦✦━━━━━━✦✦✦

A few moments ago, Park Evelyn had finished her deal with a business Mogul.

"So that's a deal. I'll have my secretary send you the details later."

"Thank you, Miss Park. This deal would allow us to build futuristic infrastructure within the country."

"Allow me to send you off."

"Thanks, if things go on the current pace, I believe your company will expand beyond Korea."

"It's all thanks to you, Miss Park."

"Well, then, I have a flight to America, can't delay the matter."

"Ah, right! The Park Family is moving back to Seoul, was it?"

"Yeah, to be precise, my father has assigned a CEO for the American headquarters, and he is planning to move back to Korea for a new business."

"New Business?"

"Hmm, he has already completed the legal contracts and formalities of this business. You know... since only Korea has access to it."

"But what is it?"

"The portals. My dad has made a deal with the government to obtain the exclusive right to develop and research new technologies with the raw materials from other worlds. He is also planning to sell those materials to other countries at high prices."

"He will keep 20 percent of the profit for managing things, while the government will keep 80 percent."

"But, Miss Park, even 20 percent is too much, you know? Even the normal materials from other worlds are priced at millions."

"Yeah, that's why... Oto-to-to... Sorry, I have to leave right now."

"I understand, Miss Park. I hope you have a good journey."

"Don't worry, we'll use your shipping and transport company to export and supply these things, so you are also going to profit a lot."

"Thanks a Lot, Miss Park. Your words have healed my soul."

Vrrooom...

With that, Park Evelyn had left for the airport with her aide.

However, just as she reached the airport, she heard the System Announcement.

It seemed like luck wasn't in her favor this time. A massive red portal emerged in the airport.

Panic erupted.

But since everyone has access to the System, they have some power to resist the gushing Monsters. Soon, everything returned to normal, the Monsters were gone, the portal was disappearing slowly, and the people took a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the casualties were none.

However, out of nowhere, the whole airport became dark, darker than the night sky. The red portal, which was about to disappear, began glowing. It increased in size rapidly, as if something was forcefully trying to open it.

But it seems the size wasn't enough. From within the portal, two giant hands came out. They grabbed two opposite corners of the portal and forcefully enlarged it.

Grrrrrrh...

A Sound came out.

But it actually wasn't sound, not really.

It was pressure.

A silent scream that people felt in their bones.

In the next second, something stepped out.

A four-meter-tall, half-crawling, half-standing. It had a body of black ligament, stretched skinless across wiry limbs, and its movements were sharp like broken code. And on its chest, where its head should be, was a single, glowing... white eye, that didn't blink.

It moved too fast... Even for Park Evelyn.

Then it stopped, and made a soundless blink, its arm blurred, or to say, the movement was too fast to see clearly.

In front of Evelyn's eyes, the airport was ruined. The people who were fighting small Monsters before didn't even realize they were already dead.

It wasn't a movement of the arm. It was a demonstration of strength that could crush anything in its way.

The Monster turned. Locked its eye on Evelyn. A quiet, rising whine assembled up in its throatless body.

It was charging up... to release something.

Suddenly, a boom like thunder. Sparked exploded mid-air.

From the smoke, Evelyn fired ahead. A broken steel pipe could be seen in her hand.

In the time it took the creature to blink, she was already there, to try her new skills.

It fired the beam right away.

But Evelyn was already gone, under its arm, she carved a burning line across its ribs through. Many sparks flew as her pipe creaked against hardened carapace.

The creature wobbled.

Then it screamed, a burst of electromagnetic distortion that fried the lights in a ten-block radius.

Its eye sparked again, and a shot of energy blasted outward.

Evelyn was caught mid-air and slammed through the debris of walls.

She coughed blood but stood again, with her legs shaking.

The beast was already there.

It once again raised its arm, attempting to use the same move that destroyed the airport.

Evelyn's vision had become blurry. Her legs refused to move even an inch.

She accepted her fate...

Then...

Blruup...

The Monster coughed out a lot of blood. It was green in color, like a swamp.

"...You've had enough screen time."

Hao Yun was standing behind the Monster. His punch directly pierced through its body.

The Monster jumped back, creating some distance between them.

Hao-Yun used the chance to check on Evelyn. Thankfully, she was still conscious.

"Are You all Right?".

"Hmm... But how did you know I was here?"

"Your Assistant called me. She is in a safe place."

"Oh..."

"But, man! Are you an Idiot? How can someone like you become so successful?"

"Are you dissing me? At this time."

"What even did I do?"

"Yes... That's exactly the problem. You did nothing!"

"What?"

"I mean, what's even the meaning of your Legendary Job and skills if you are not even gonna use them?"

"But, I don't know how to use it."

He moved once.

Carried Evelyn in his arms, touched her hands, and said.

"Close your eyes, and look inside. Can you see those unfamiliar yet familiar memories?"

"Yes..."

"Go through them."

"Now, use your ability, the one that can heal your wounds and replenish your Mana."

ABYSSAL THRONE...

As soon as she said those words, Evelyn's eyes gleamed in purple, her hair turned silver, and a personality change could be seen. A large purple colored Void Throne emerged out of nowhere. Evelyn sat on the Throne. A cold attitude and pride were on her face.

Her body began to heal. Her aura and mana regained their peak in no time.

The Monster realized what was happening. It wasted no time and charged at Evelyn.

VOID CROWN...

The Monster slowed down, its aura and strength seemingly weakened.

SINGULARITY BLADE...

Out of thin air, countless purple colored Blades emerged. None of them had any physical form. They were made out of pure Void Power.

The Blades shook at the Monster, piercing through all around its body. There was not a single area that was spared. The Monster was reduced to a blob of flesh in no time.

Hao-Yun was standing there, watching Evelyn grow stronger.

Then a Message appeared.

[Job Ephyreon has learned the skill Abyssal Throne]

[Job Ephyreon has learned the skill Void Crown]

[Job Ephyreon has learned the skill Singularity Blade]

Hao-Yun was shocked.

"So I can also learn skills just by seeing people use them. My job's hidden secrets are coming out gradually, but all are making me stronger."

"Mmm-mmm, that's good."

He turned his face. Evelyn was still sitting on the Abyssal Throne. Her eyes were still purple.

Then, in the next moment, all the Blades that were surrounding the Monster turned against Hao-Yun; their energy was even violent after slaying the Monster.

"It seems Evelyn isn't strong enough to properly control her powers."

"Ha-ha-ha, As expected of a Legendary Job."

"I'm impressed, Miss Void Empress. But..."

KNOW YOUR PLACE!

He said three words. His immense aura once again unveiled itself. The words carried the essence of Ephyreon, a Job whose details, rank, and powers were unknown to Hao-Yun; All he knew was that he could learn any skill from any job.

Evelyn snapped out, her Void eyes shattering like glass, the Throne turned into dust, and the blades dissolved into thin air as if they never existed.

Evelyn returned to normal, but her body was exhausted, and she went unconscious. Her body wasn't trained to become the Void Empress; it was trained to handle business matters of mortals.
