"The So-Called Villain!"
As the inmates realized the Hadō Kyōraku Callum had used, their faces registered shock. Even the onlookers were stunned.
A brilliant blue beam, charged with terrifying spiritual pressure, erupted from Kyōraku Callum's palm, instantly engulfing the attackers. The plaza was bathed in blue light, obscuring everything else.
"Impossible! He's just a newcomer," someone exclaimed. "A mere brat using Hadō #88 without incantation! What kind of monster is imprisoned in the Maggot's Nest?"
This was Kyōraku Callum's first time using such a powerful Hadō, his most potent yet. Though he'd forgone the incantation, the power was considerable.
BOOM— The blue beam, its force unabated, struck the surrounding walls, causing a deafening roar. Debris rained down, creating deep craters in the ground. The earth shook violently, leaving the inmates speechless.
The beam's intensity gradually subsided, revealing the charred bodies of the inmates, resembling corpses roasted in flames, utterly devastated. Dozens lay on the ground, their fates uncertain.
"Large-scale Kaidō" Emerald green light emanated from Kyōraku Callum's palm, enveloping the injured inmates. Their wounds healed visibly.
"What was that? A carrot and stick approach?" someone muttered. "Why do I get the feeling this kid's up to no good?"
"You'll see," another replied.
As the inmates recovered, they awoke from their near-death experience, remembering the blinding blue beam, a terror forever etched in their minds.
"We submit!"
"We don't want to die!"
Kyōraku Callum turned his attention to the remaining onlookers—elite Shinigami, some of whom he recognized.
"Former Ninth Seat of the Eighth Division, former Eighth Seat of the Eleventh Division," he said. "I may not remember your names, but I suggest you follow their example."
The former Ninth Seat of the Eighth Division spoke from the railing of a high platform. "Lieutenant Kyōraku, I submit!" He clearly recognized Kyōraku Callum.
Others followed suit.
Three minutes later, Kyōraku Callum heard the system's prompt.
[Check-in complete. Reward distribution in progress.]
[Congratulations, host! You have obtained Shunpo Mastery!]
A torrent of Shunpo knowledge flooded his mind, overwhelming him even with his enhanced soul.
"Shunpo: Flash, Empty Cicada, Tranquil Crane..." As he processed the information, his delight grew. Besides special Shunpo techniques, he now possessed a deep understanding of stealth techniques.
Based on his knowledge of Yoruichi Shihōin, his Shunpo skills were now at least on par with hers.
"Master-level Kidō corresponds to mastery of all Kidō up to #88—the level of a typical Captain. Shunpo Mastery surpasses that," Kyōraku Callum realized.
"Yoruichi's Shunpo is exceptional, even among Captains. There are likely even higher levels to attain through self-study."
With the check-in complete, Kyōraku Callum lost interest in the inmates. The Maggot's Nest offered no other entertainment. He spent his time refining his kendo skills, considering the integration of Shunpo and kendo.
Three days later, the Maggot's Nest's doors opened again. Suì-Fēng, clad in a large white Captain's haori, reappeared.
"Villain, the Captain-Commander has cleared your name," Suì-Fēng said coldly, her gaze unwavering. "You're free to leave the Maggot's Nest!"
Kyōraku Callum remained unmoved, staring at Suì-Fēng's small face. "That 'villain' business really grates on me!" His voice was full of resentment.
"Hmph!" Suì-Fēng snorted. "If it weren't for—"
Before she could finish, Kyōraku Callum appeared before her, his hands reaching for her cheeks, rubbing them roughly.
"Villain?!" he said, laughing. "I'll be a villain today!"
"Urgh, damn it!" Suì-Fēng's anger flared. Kyōraku Callum's hands kneaded her cheeks.
"Captain Suì-Fēng, thank you for releasing me," Kyōraku Callum said, laughing loudly. "I won't linger in the Second Division barracks!"
He knew better than to stay on enemy territory, especially considering Suì-Fēng's position. He feared his actions might attract the Onmitsukido.
Suì-Fēng's face flushed crimson, her eyes blazing with anger. Before she could react, she saw Kyōraku Callum swiftly disappearing.
"Shihōin Stealth Techniques: Tranquil Crane," Suì-Fēng gritted her teeth. "He dares to deny his connection to Captain Yoruichi! What a villain! Kyōraku Callum, I won't forget this!"
The Maggot's Nest inmates watched Suì-Fēng leave, the events replaying in their minds.
