'Why are King and Queen Elarion here? And, is this Wilhelm's true personality?' I muttered to myself.
It was hard to believe. The figure who had always been depicted as full of authority and unshakable at the palace now seemed so cheerful, almost like a child. His smile was wide, and there was a mischievous glint in his eyes as he teased my father.
I was silent for a moment, confused as to whether what I was seeing was just another mask of a king, or if this was his true self, a side he rarely showed to the world. He wasn't even like this when I took the princess's route.
In the main story, Wilhelm is at the Peak Grandmaster Realm, making him the strongest king on the continent. And Selena is at the Low Stage Grandmaster Realm. Right now, perhaps Selena is still at the Late Stage or Peak Master Realm.
The Queen beside him merely smiled faintly, as if she were used to her husband's antics. Her gaze then shifted towards me, hiding behind the wall.
"Oh… look at the sweet child peeking over here," she said, her voice gentle but all-knowing.
!!!
'Telekinesis?' I mumbled inwardly, still shocked by the way my body moved without being touched.
Suddenly my body was lifted and brought slowly towards her. "Hmm… so handsome, just like your father," she said with a faint smile, "and your eyes, exactly like your mother's…"
"…Come on, smile, let me see again just how much you resemble her," she continued.
I looked at the Queen for a moment, a sense of awkwardness covering my face. However, little by little, I smiled, following her request. At that, the Queen beamed, her eyes shining with admiration.
Without warning, the Queen spread her arms and embraced me gently. The warmth of her body made my chest pound, a mix of shock and comfort.
"Look at that, truly just like your mother," she said softly. "Your smile carries the same aura, warm and sweet."
Suddenly, my mother arrived. Her eyes widened for a moment upon seeing the King and Queen, clearly surprised. However, in an instant, her expression turned warm.
"Oh… Wilhelm, Selena! It's been so long," she greeted with a wide smile, her voice full of familiarity, as if greeting old friends. Then she invited them to sit.
I could only stare at them, feeling a bit awkward. However, curiosity still nagged at my mind. Do they know that Lysandra is here?
Then, Agnes and the other maids came in quickly, serving refreshments to everyone in the room, and left without saying a word. I watched their every move carefully, looking for any signs of secret interaction. However, there was none. Does that mean Wilhelm and Selena don't know? Or perhaps they are deliberately ignoring it? The question kept spinning in my head, adding to the mix of curiosity. However, I decided to ignore it.
They talked about many things, light but full of familiarity. From their conversation, I gathered some simple information. Apparently, the last time they visited was about a month before my mother gave birth. The reason they stopped visiting was also clear, at that time, Selena was about to give birth to her second child. And I'm pretty sure that day was the moment one of the five heroines in the game was born, Princess Elarion, Sylvia. Just like in the game, her birthdate didn't change, which is February 19th.
Their purpose for coming here was apparently for a one-day vacation. Then, with another wave of curiosity, I asked about their relationship, pretending to be hesitant about them.
"Umm, Mom called you Wilhelm and Selena, right?" I asked with an innocent tone.
!!!
Suddenly I felt magic manifest, as if it was blanketing the room. The air vibrated subtly, and my instincts reacted immediately. Before I could continue speaking, I activated my skill to check. Sure enough, it was [Sound Seal ☆3] magic, originating from my mother. She was using it to prevent any sound from leaving the room.
'A secret, huh…' I thought.
"Yes?"
Wilhelm looked at me with a faint, meaningful smile, while Selena just watched gently, as if to calm me. The atmosphere in the room changed, it was warm, but also laden with secrets.
"Are you the King and Queen of this kingdom?" I asked, with a curious tone, even though I already knew their identities.
"And what is your relationship with my father and mother? You all seem like old friends reuniting."
The room fell silent. Only the sound of breathing could be heard. Wilhelm didn't answer right away. He turned to my father, as if asking something without words. My father looked down for a moment, then let out a long sigh before giving a slow nod. Wilhelm chuckled, his voice deep yet warm.
"Hahaha… you catch on quick, son. That's right, I am King Elarion, and this is Selena, my Queen."
"The four of us have been friends since childhood, which is why we're so close to this day," Wilhelm answered.
Then, he clapped my father on the shoulder familiarly. "And the man you call Father… is my younger brother. As well as the hidden Grandmaster of this kingdom."
"Huh?" I blurted out, my voice rising unconsciously.
My guess about my father being a Grandmaster was correct. But what shocked me was that my father was part of the royal family.
I was frozen, my head filled with questions. This… could it make sense? I tried to recall all the story routes, pieces of dialogue, even hidden information in the game. And there it was, one small, often overlooked detail, Elarion King was said to have a younger brother, but it was never explained who or where he was.
I glanced at Wilhelm, then at my father. Their faces… do look alike. Their hair was clearly different, Wilhelm's was golden blonde, while my father's was jet black. That difference alone was enough to make me doubt. However, I eventually dismissed it, as there was never any information about the previous king's appearance. I looked closer. Their eyes, both of them were golden-colored.
"Woahhh…" was all that came out of my mouth, a reflex from my astonishment.
Wilhelm smiled slyly, his eyes glinting as if he was enjoying my reaction. "Not bad, right? Your life is pretty good, isn't it? Your father, from the royal family, and your mother, from a Duke's family. They chose to live peacefully here, in a place managed directly by the royal family, under the fake family name 'Melvian'."
He crossed his arms, his voice crafted as if revealing a great secret, but also full of a teasing tone. "And there's a good reason for it, too. The order led by your father was the one that ended the war the Leonhart family had failed to win. And now, you can live a relaxed life, free from political pressure. After all, you have two powerful families to act as your shield."
I was silent for a moment, then slowly returned his smile. "…You're right."
But, where were Father and Mother when the story entered the great war? In the game, even when the war raged and the major figures intervened, their names never came up.
